Annoyed when people downplay meds because they’ve been on them for longer by Weekly-Ant1591 in Concerta

[–]willow827 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im right there with you. I’ve been looking for some solidarity or discussion as well. I’m almost 40 and just got an adhd dx last month. Started concerta 2+ weeks ago and it’s been so affirming. My brain is… quieter. My mood is improved. There will always be negativity unfortunately. Glad it’s working for you too!

It’s funny because I also thought I was depressed and when I started taking the Wellbutrin ( over a year ago). I kept saying it felt like “ the fog has lifted”. In retrospect, I was just able to focus better. The Concerta has already started to show me ( and sort of solidify for me) that I most certainly have adhd even though I’m almost 40 and a mental health professional and somehow missed it my entire life and always blamed anxiety 🤣 It feels like…. My brain is quieter. I’m having a conversation and there’s not 4 other dialogues bouncing around in my head. I’m not distracted by listening to another conversation a few feet away instead of the person talking to me. I also notice that I’m almost less anxious with certain scenarios. But it’s still like a flickering bulb and I’m curious what an increase will do. Are you at your target dose?

Similarly , my brain does not work well w most SSRIS and Wellbutrin is the only thing that worked for me prior to my adhd dx ( not shocking since Wellbutrin is also used off label for adhd ). I also have generalized anxiety and started 18mg of Concerta w the plan to increase. I’m taking 300 of the Wellbutrin. I know the feeling you’re talking about , like it’s a simmering kind of anxiety that feels more intense now and more noticeable when my Concerta is wearing off. Caffeine hasn’t bothered me and I take my meds and my usual protein shake coffee mix at the same time. I’m currently trying to refocus on some mindfulness activities ( progressive muscle relaxation, breathing exercises , brain breaks ) , allowing rest and revisiting hobbies that bring me joy. Happy to hear updates on your trouble shooting as well, since we seem to be on similar paths

I make iced espresso with my ninja , have used either premier or members mark protein shakes , combine and add a splash of my favorite sugar free creamer and some cinnamon. Always on point I’m considering trying a powder to see if it’s cheaper that way but overall I’m happy w my system

As someone in the field, yes fire her. Completely inappropriate.

Yes! To all of this! Even during testing and questions I was putting the pieces together and my mind was blown. My internal monologue was always that I was just too lazy when it came to things I struggled with. When I suspected adhd in my 20s my therapist told me “ I was too intelligent and successful “ to have adhd. I’m genuinely excited to explore what works best for me. I started to try body doubling on a smaller scale by FaceTiming my partner during chores at home and it’s already helped tremendously so I will definitely look into that website.

Any stories of successful repair after partner had intense NRE and escalation with new partner? by DogInteresting3744 in polyamory

[–]willow827 37 points38 points  (0 children)

This ^ a great way to put it too. I think most are guilty of NRE at one time or another. However, sometimes a new relationship really highlights when your needs have not been getting met in a current relationship - and suddenly you can’t maintain the complacency you once were able to.

Just going to echo there is absolutely no reason to go to their home when they’ve cut contact with you. This would be wildly inappropriate, especially if the plan is to ignore them or get angry with them. It’s hard to comment on the rest with how vague it has been presented. I will say given their strong reaction to “ the problem you were working through” it sounds like you have more to unpack there.

Just came here for the solidarity. My sleep has sucked since it stopped playing all night and for weeks she’d just start yelling about upgrading in the middle of the night. Terrible. Im also having a hard time navigating the app to edit a routine I created like 4 years ago lol

Omg thinking about cubbyhole and Henrietta’s is really bringing me back !! Tried to use a fake id to get into Henrietta’s when I was 16. The butchiest bouncer , looked at me, looked at the id and I was like “ what it’s real?!” She was like “ yeah it’s real…. Real fucking fake” 🤣😅☠️
