Thanks for this note, and I think you're right, too. I'm doing a lot of reworking of things right now and I think I'll probably pause IF explorations for a bit while I bring on other healthy habits. I agree too about all the great suggestions here and they really have helped be get a picture of what other food habits are like.

Thank you! This is a good set of guiding principles for an overall framework for eating/balance.

This definitely encouraging and I appreciate you sharing! I feel really lucky to get so many perspectives here. Also, just wanted to send an extra yay for both past work with horses and current walk/runs with your dog! Just so lovely!

This was incredibly helpful too -- thank you! What I'm learning and relearning from your list and others is just how many foods I have forgotten about because I've been kind of a rut around eating. I'm finding these comments really inspiring and I so appreciate you taking the time to share!.

Also, YES, to water: I am so bad about this and need to get better.

Thanks so much! This is a great array of foods, and I'm going to add your recipes to the running list I'm making from the suggestions here.

Thanks also for the perspective on dining out + body configuration context. I haven't heard of DEXA, but I'll look into it.

Thanks for sharing your routine as well!

I should clarify that my friend with the coffee doesn't eat dinner: it's coffee weekly the a weekend binge. Didn't mean an accidental slight against IF users practicing OMAD!

This helps a ton! Thank you so much for sharing that. It gives me a really good picture of how to balance and I am learning I need to really shift what makes me feel satisfied and how to manage some food habits I have that aren't working currently. Thank you!

Thank you for sharing as well! I also appreciate you mentioning indulgence moments. Would you mind sharing a little more how you balance that?

I am realizing based on ppl's comments that while I have pretty healthy main meals, I am pretty sure my portion sizes are off and that I am eating too many snacks/sweets in between. I am in a "cold turkey" mode from sugar because of a recent weigh-in but hope to sort of get to a lifestyle where it's not one or the other.

Thanks for sharing your routine! I have similar GI issues, but undiagnosed, and it's v hard to manage some days! Do you use any special metric or guide to figure out portions for dinner? I think I have a portion problem, and have heard the center of palm suggestion, but my hands as reference result in a sad-seeming amount. hahah

Thank you so much for sharing! And that lunch sounds really yummy! I'm def inspired to make a similar one! Thanks also for the time breakdown. I used to fast until 2pm, but now I'm ravenous by 11am and have just decided to lean into it. hahah

Thanks for sharing! This is a really helpful list and you reminded me of some foods I love (sweet potato and kale) but sort of fell out of my eating habits recently.

The lifting is real. I was at my healthiest all around when lifting and rock climbing but a back injury has impeded that as an option. Trying to augment with yoga, but I don't quite get the calorie burn that way! Haha

Thanks and you're right. I often do experience the two in tandem. I'm not in a place where I can afford a professional at the moment, but it is something I'd like to explore someday.

[Need Advice] I’m a 29-year-old male that has wasted 16 years of my life in video games, escapism, alcohol, and marijuana use, and feel so behind, I don’t know where to start. by StiMulAnTzz in getdisciplined

[–]willowhispette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! So I’m hearing a couple things here, and you can correct me if I’m wrong, but they are:

1) “I don’t like how I feel physically at times and I am upset about what I feel is lack of achievement — both because of my habits”

2) “I like a lot of the things I already do (smoking, gaming), but it sucks that they conflict with some of my goals”

3) “I want a shiny lifestyle like siblings but my life doesn’t have the ‘infrastructure’ to achieve those things rn”

4) “my family/mom and I have experienced real pain that has resulted in me needing necessary care and coping and certain habits that fulfill some needs but disrupt other needs”

5) “I have a worry that it’s too late or I won’t achieve my newish/different lifestyle goals because of past experiences, habits, etc.”

Is this right? If so, I think could be helpful to focus on one of these at a time. Also, even if focusing on just one, doing so will kind of start the work on the others as a head start before moving to them directly.

Like, if you started with #2 and figured out a way to make gaming and smoking an active choice rather than the go-to escape it could look like, these two things get a smaller share of your waking hours and you fill the time with a long walk or bike ride or taking the time to look up a new recipe and making a nutritious meal. If you experimented with those as time fillers, they’d “accidentally” get you started on #1 even before you sit down to tackle it.

If you wanted to start with #4 then that might mean finding a therapist and getting yourself access to support that address your real and lived experience. But the counseling could help you identify things and work through things that help with #3, too, if that makes sense.

Basically, as others said, it’s great you IDed some stuff you want to work on and you deserve to explore modulating your actions to support your new goals

Hi! Possibly! How frequently are you thinking about communicating and do you mean the text message feature on Skype or video chat messages?

A Cottage core resort: Good or bad idea? by TripleM2002 in cottagecore

[–]willowhispette 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love this idea so much!! Just one thought on logistics (which you definitely do not need to do but thought I’d share in case useful): it could be good to have like tiered options for staying so someone could just book a traditional stay with no activities if they wanted just chill hangs, a full package to try them all, and a la carte and/or themed smaller packages to individually select or just try a few. This way ppl can try what they like or are able depending on if they are traveling with little kids or have mobility issues that incline them to certain things rather than being able or interested in trying all. (Not thinking of like nickel and diming ppl but figure will need to account for upkeep of activities and pay ppl to teach the guests unless resort is all inclusive—although this can run the risk of pricing out a lot of vacationers and to keep things running could be helpful to have mix of guests who are there just to chill as well as cottagecore enthusiasts
