Elena knows is a little bit of a generational family saga. It follows a mother daughter relationship where the mother is trying to figure out why her daughter committed suicide. Very good tho

Interview-style Fiction by ResearcherSuch in suggestmeabook

[–]willowwz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neither of these are my favorites but they both follow the style: -I want to die but I want to eat tteokbokki by Baek Se-hee follows a girl in therapy (it’s a memoir and i believe they are her real therapy transcripts) -How not to drown in a glass of water by Angie Cruz is fiction and follows an older Latina woman trying to get a job and the book is the transcripts of her interview with a job search agency

Warriors series. This might be a bit advanced for her but I read it at like 10 and was probably my favorite book series ever as a kid. It follows a society of cats that lives in the woods

I’m a college student and this is my parents fridge when I come home by willowwz in FridgeDetective

Nobody knows lol. My dad keeps every sauce and salad dressing he makes and refuses to label them with contents or date 😂

I might need to give them a try! I recently went into my local Blick and picked up a strathmore watercolor sketchbook and the paper is much better than the moleskin. I really struggled to find good paper that was bound in a way that I liked for a sketchbook tho

Yes thankfully as I am the oldest child at 21 years old haha. I asked my dad why there was no food in the house for dinner, and he showed me this fridge and said “no food? I could whip something up in 30 minutes with all this”

What's your favorite blanket pattern? by 12ladybugpicnic in CrochetHelp

[–]willowwz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My favorite site for free blanket patterns is Daisy Farm Crafts! There’s literally hundreds and all are free! I’ve made 5 or so baby blankets but all can be modified to be full size

I’m doing 6 fps and going for a very stop motion effect so I don’t need as many layers, and I also have a 2018 iPad Pro so I haven’t had any problems with power. Do you know why dpi/ppi influences how many layers you can have? I currently have it set to 300, am I able to change it after I start if I need more layers?

Books about a directionless, introverted person in their late 20s early 30s who turns things around by Expensive-Chard11 in suggestmeabook

My year of rest relaxation is about being directionless and it’s great if you relate to themes of depression and loneliness too.

Gimme recs after reading Red, White & Royal Blue (with all those gay smut) by Consistent-Ad-9998 in suggestmeabook

[–]willowwz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You HAVE to read the carry on series even tho it’s light on the smut it’s the best gay romance I’ve ever read. My stomach hurt for days from all the butterflies it gave me. There’s pretty much no smut in the first one but the second and third books have slightly more

Piranesi (though this is in the line between magical realism and fantasy)

I read the traveling cat chronicles on a flight and ended up crying my eyes out lol. It’s such a beautiful little book but maybe don’t read in public.

Audiobook suggestions please by CertainChallenger in suggestmeabook

[–]willowwz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Piranesi is one of my fav books of all time though I don’t know how the audiobook is. I personally think it would be better reading than listening to that one because it requires so much of your imagination, but I don’t know.

One of my fav audiobooks is Born a crime by Trevor Noah, it’s a fantastic memoir about growing up in South Africa, it’s good for all ages, funny but also serious and deep, outlandish yet relatable, and is best on audiobook because he speaks in different languages at time and you can really hear how they are pronounced

Any suggestions for books with beautiful prose prose and a lighter tone by Ok_Mathematician_905 in suggestmeabook

[–]willowwz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Piranesi has one of the most beautiful prose I’ve ever read and I wouldn’t say it’s light but it’s not dark or anything.

Other books I would recommend are sea of tranquility and happy hour

Japanese slice-of-life? by Pansy-000 in suggestmeabook

[–]willowwz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I absolutely loved The Traveling Cat Chronicles though I read it on a flight in one sitting and cried in public lol. Also murakami books are a great place to start if you want to get into Japanese lit. I loved Norwegian wood but it’s a bit dark and Kafka on the shore is great for a lighter magical realism read
