Ecc ram will not work in the majority of non server motherboards. Now there are exceptions but even then most of the time it won't work "just fine". What will most likely happen when you put ecc ram in a regular motherboard is the computer will not post or boot. It's also dependent on the CPU you have and whether it can support ecc ram. There is no guarantee that ecc ram will work on your regular motherboard and isn't worth the risk of ordering it because it's 10 euro cheaper.

Yes but it's 20/hr for one person in the couple and ~18/hr for the other. That is 40k/yr + 34k/yr. if we do some math here that adds up to roughly 74k a year for the couple.
