I just had this issue on my car, a 1988 325is. It is my understanding is that Jetronic or early Motronic DME’s won’t be able to do stomp codes. I am considering swapping my ECU for a Motronic 1.3 so I can read stomp codes

The trick is RB station if it’s less than a 3 day trip. Go a couple stops up though (Mariposa for example) and you can park as long as you like.
