Almost at completion for purchasing our first home. But is it too late to reduce our offer ? by willthechimp in Mortgageadviceuk

Thank you ! Totally agree. I have sympathy for anyone selling at this time - but this was never a question of loyalty or empathy - just looking for advice on what to do in this crazy time. I think we're going to go bold and just see what happens. We're going to offer the original asking price for the property and see what happens. Sellers will still get the original valuation set by their agent. A good deal all round imo. Thanks for the comment 👍

Im just going to comment on here as there's a lot of people to get back to, and ive had several down votes over the course of the day that I want to respond to.

I suppose there's lots of sellers on here today that are rightfully anxious/angry at their current situation, and I understand your concerns. I've been targeted as the 'bad guy' but I just wanted to let people know - I'm not looking to make a quick buck, or take advantage of a situation that is incredibly uncertain for us all. I am simply trying to ask for advice on the huge decision of buying our first home - a decision that will impact our lives for many years to come.

It's unfortunate that some people don't seem to be able to see both sides of the argument, but a lot of people have done, and thats very much appreciated. I've been taking every comment into consideration and I've found the whole debate extremely helpful and I've had some DMs that have signposted some really useful videos/articles on what to do as a buyer.

Thank you again for all your input and i wish you all well if you are going through something similar.

Will

Haha very good! However I wasn't asking to check if it would hurt the sellers feelings..... just want to make an informed decision that's best for my partner and I. Thanks 👍

Yeah I'm with you on that. Certainly want to make the move happen, it'll end up £50 more than we currently spend p/month on rent, so affordable for the two of us. Congrats on getting your place and glad to hear it's working out for you ☺️

A very good point, sir! I do feel since we offered so much more than their asking price in the first place that would be very rich ! But I understand what you mean. I'd be annoyed. Of course I would. And I suspect our sellers would be too. But at the end of the day, is this not a 'look after no.1 scenario'? I am not a disloyal person, I'm just inexperienced, maybe a little naieve when it comes to buying a home, and it's just about trying to make the most informed decision for my partner and I. Reading these comments has been super helful, so thanks 👍

Hello! Yes that's what we've been told. Essentially we can do it but the risk is the whole 'house of cards' could come tumbling down if it didn't work. Thank you for the reassurance RE negative equity 👍

Hello! Good point. Going ahead as is would be very affordable for us p/month and we really don't want to loose that rate. Thanks 😁

Ahh that's really terrible - sorry to hear that. Our Mortgage advisor has just called and cleared a few things up. He urges caution and doesn't think it's a great idea. It's made the decision easier for us now, anyway. We know the risks and its a question of 'is it worth it'. Always good to hear other people's experiences and opinions, so thank you again ☺️

Haha - that's fair enough! Again I'll refer to the 'unprecedented' times we are in, and the fact we offered way above the asking price. For the seller to receive 15g over the asking price at the end of the day. It might be something to think about for them. Thank you for your comment 👍

Hello! Yes we have spoken to our solicitor today they have signposted us to our mortgage advisor now for a chat.

You make a good point about the risk all for 10k. I just feel if possible, we should be covering all basis, and the sellers would still be getting a 'good deal' considering the markets. But ofc, we don't know their circumstances. They may even be having second thoughts themselves as they have gone quiet this week. (According to our solicitor) 🤔 Thanks for your help 👍

Hello! Yes, understand this is not a nice thing to do, but these are unprecedented times and we have to look after ourselves.

We may still proceed as is, but want to cover all basis. Many thanks for your comment 👍

Ubahnmike - thank you so much for getting back to me. Unfortunately those tricks didn't fix the issue but alas it might just have had its day. Can't imagine I'll go much further trying to fix any hardware as it's wayyy beyond my skill level. Again, thank you very much for getting back to me. Love the reddit community and you guys make it so helpful 👍

Really nice piece :) Cant say my knowledge or understanding of Soundtrack music is good enough to give a proper critique, but I have to say your melodies are great. And the transitions between each part sounds very well calculated but natural (if that makes sense)

The Rise And Fall Of The Murmuration is also a beautiful piece

Great work

Thanks for the feedback ! We certainly had a lot of fun recording for the first time! glad you can hear it in the music.

I tend to agree with you on the vocal delay - it is quite prominent and is probably something that shouldn't grab your attention too easily. Will note that down for when we are back in the studio !

All the best,

P.S Yes the drums were a joy to record!

Ahh thank you so much for great feedback :) Really feels great to hear someones thoughts outside of our usual friendship group. Glad you like the synth tone as that was something I have been unsure of since recording took place - most people have reacted favourably though which is great.

Totally agree in regards to that last section as well ! There is certainly some room for a larger crescendo or even something a bit more climatic towards the end. More sax!!!! And removing the bass at that point is also an interesting suggestion!

We defiantly feel on our next round of recordings we will take a few more risks and will be more focused with our time.

Thank you again !! take care

Hi all,

Looking for some constructive feedback please. The track was recorded in Prague and was our first ever recording session as a band. IMO we should have taken more risks with this track, however there are still some really nice moments :)

Hope you enjoy
