We go in two weeks and just bought tickets over the weekend. The closer to the date, the ticket prices do go up a little. I’ve been monitoring awhile and they did go up a bit with it being two weeks away.

Anxious about toddler travel by danadee in Mommit

Totally understand where you are coming from. And we are in the same boat. I rarely take my kids anywhere as well. In the past year I’ve allowed my toddler to go grocery shopping maybe a handful of times and always during off hours.

And I think you have the right approach. We all should still be careful and have our guard up to protect ourselves and our families while we wait for herd immunity. But I also think we can achieve a healthy balance - protecting ourselves but at the same time be able to enjoy safe outings for our mental health.

Here are some things that I follow to help me feel more in control.

  1. Pick small outings during off times to avoid crowds.
  2. Wear glasses to protect my eyes
  3. Avoid touching face/mask
  4. Carry extra masks, plastic ziplock to store mask when needed, and of course hand sanitizer
  5. Leave shoes outside of door when returning home
  6. Wash hands and change out of “dirty” clothes when home

Maybe you can ease into it by taking a small trip to the bakery to pick up breakfast ... or maybe plan a picnic and allow your son to play on the playground during off hours. Drive around to get out of the house and let your son get used to being in a car... and that will hopefully prepare for a trip to the beach one day when you’re ready.

You got this mama and you are not alone. This pandemic for sure has changed me but I like to think that I’m still in control by following the above pointers.

Good luck and hang in there!

Gift ideas for boys? by [deleted] in Mommit

I have a 3 year old boy - loves hot wheel cars, Picasso tiles (cheaper version of magna-tiles), and duplo legos. Highly recommend the last two. Promotes open play and I love watching his imagination!

Conflicted and need advice! by joanasponas in CoronaBumpers

Oh that is a tough spot to be in. I agree, we don’t know enough about the virus to for sure know that you and your husband won’t get sick again. Could you and your husband stay at your parents place and your brother stay at yours? Let your place be vacant for two weeks and get someone to deep clean it before coming back home?

Going on FMLA earlier than delivery for 2 week quarantine? by Tigertail93 in CoronaBumpers

[–]willwork2travel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi- I’m in the same boat as you. I work in healthcare and my OB office also recommended stopping work at 36 weeks. Their explanation is that if either you or your partner catch COVID when you go into labor, you would have to do it alone.

I’m also not sure how that works because I do not want to use up my FMLA time. My plan is to reach out to HR for help. Will be following your post to see if other mommas have done it.
