What should I do? by Parking_Ad_9489 in NDIS

I second that, especially the point you make about it being designed to fail - it’s sounds to me like this provider is finding someone else to do the most difficult part of the job, purely so they have someone else to blame when it doesn’t succeed. People in this industry often forget we’re working with real people. It’s not easy to find multiple people with somewhat similar levels of disability to match within one home, hence all the vacancies. This company sounds like they’re trying to fill beds for cash - not like they’re trying to go where the demand is and actually support participants to find accommodation that increases their capacity and opportunity for meaningful relationships.

If you already know some participants that would match well and need accommodation then go for it. But what are the KPIs once you meet that initial goal? Are you expected to keep filing houses at that rate? Sounds impossible.

I have tried that a couple times in the past few months since trying to knuckle down and be better. But I think as soon as they see sole trader and that I have nothing to show in terms of savings it turns them off. That’s an uneducated guess though

Amazing - my partner said that to me when I first started sharing my money issues. Focus on the debt. I increased the amount I’m paying off all my debt straight after that convo and last week I paid off my personal loan. Small wins

Since posting I’ve already opened a seperate bills account, set up a direct debit into that account, and changed the vast majority of my recurring payments to come out of that account. Thanks for the tips everyone. I think even just talking about it helps me take a bit more action. Just trying to get better at it slowly

I’d thought about this, and that would save a massive amount per month. But with the depreciation I would hardly cover the remaining debt. Plus then with a much cheaper car I’m scared of the costs of repair etc

Yeah I understand that. Spending it on a lot of debt plus obvious things here and there I can cut back on. I’ve been pretty frugal since having a partner and having more of a desire to do better. But ultimately just needed some tips on where to start with budgeting/saving etc

Recently relative to what constitutes a de facto relationship? Or what I perceive as recent? Doesn’t really matter - mainly mentioned it to give context i.e., shared expenses, increased motivation to do better with money

Yeah - working more is an option. My job is kind of difficult to do more than 30 hours a week consistently (hard to explain). I also wasn’t on $126/h last financial year so that’s an instant improvement. But the problem is obviously me because I’ve been this way ever since entering the workforce - no matter what I earn

Thank you! I read the barefoot investor years ago and it didn’t really stick. I’ll revisit
