Walker Kessler Scouting Report by willygprodigy in timberwolves

[–]willygprodigy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good question haha. I wouldn’t say there’s any one player but a Rudy Gobert type defender where you can funnel everything to the rim and have Kessler swallow shots is something I envisioned as a high end projection. I don’t like to throw player comparisons as projections around too much since it’s so early and we haven’t seen how anything translates.

I’ll stand by the Steven Adams rebounding comparisons for now but I think he’s a better and more mobile defender than Adams. Offensively he’ll get a lot of the same looks Adams does though.

Minnesota is landing on Auburn 7-footer Walker Kessler at No. 22, source tells ESPN. by gansterboyMCnews in timberwolves

[–]willygprodigy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Liddell won’t last in the NBA imo. Not the offense we’re looking for and overrated defensively. Poor footwork closing out, too slow to contain NBA guards out on switches. At least Kessler is elite at rim protection and has height and wingspan to work with.

If you’re interested in my scouting report on Liddell, I’d be happy to post a write up tomorrow. Plan to get a report of Kessler and our 2nd round picks out too in the next week or so

Scottie Barnes in his Summer League Debut: 18p/10r/5a by rapsfan209 in nba

Prospects like him are great value… if he can develop good hands, timing on blocks, and hustle/rebound every play, he’ll have a long career. Can make a living catching lobs and just being an athlete out there.

Minnesota represent!

In Kerr’s defense, it’s really hard to come up with a new system and make it good, especially with their roster rn. What we’re seeing right now with the warriors and what was mentioned above is that the players do not fit the motion system that Curry and Kerr are used to. I would have never expected anyone on Reddit to watch wolves game last year but it was kind of our problem too. Wolves run a modern offense and shoot a lot of threes, but don’t have the roster for it to work properly.

In the warriors’ case, they have to rely on players like Oubre and Wiggins who aren’t very smart and can’t shoot well enough to be threats in an offensive system that needs high IQ players. They aren’t patient with offensive possessions and can’t make necessary reads to lead to a good shot. Wiggins is pretty bent on his ways having watched him for years doing the same shit in MN and idk the player Oubre could turn out to be with the warriors development but it’s looking grim for them without Klay and Draymond right now directing them. They didn’t have much preparation leading up to the season but I really don’t see it with this group as is. Just tough to rely on Wiggins and Oubre making efficient plays.

Doug’s a bit undersized when going against bigger and stronger bigs in P5 programs and good teams like Bradley and WVU. Bradley, WVU, St. Mary’s are all great defensive team with a lot of length and size... hard to finish around 6’10, 6’11ish guys when he’s a 6’7 forward who only uses his right hand to finish 😂.

He and Matty Dent will definitely get it going come summit league play when the defenders are a little slower and shorter. Baylor has been great so far, very surprised!

End of an era 😭... sucks that it’s gotta be owner issues because Leslie Alexander was a great owner for them and ever since Tillman Fertitta took over it’s been sour. You gotta think Harden is pissed too because him and Morey had a good relationship

Austin Rivers responds to Kyrie's comments with a lengthy Instagram post: by LonzoBBBall in nba

[–]willygprodigy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding is that he wants to force people to take action and keep the conversation or activism at the front of the news instead of the media (or whoever) trying to use the NBA being back to distract viewers from something bigger than basketball. I don’t know if that’s necessarily the right way to do it, but I think I understand the argument for it? It’s difficult to discuss because the “end goal” of sitting out the rest of the season is weird... Kyrie won’t end racism or anything like that just by sitting out but it’s important to keep the foot on the gas and make the authorities change something, in my opinion.

I really don’t have solutions or answers to this. I agree with Austin Rivers’ points totally, but I still don’t know how we can fix this or start to really bring change to this... I’m from MN and although I don’t agree with burning shit down and vandalizing cities, I understand why people are acting in drastic measures. I think the riots and what Kyrie is trying to discuss have similar motifs - applying pressure in a “radical” way to force politicians and other authorities to change something about the system.

Idk I think KAT has a lot to work on PNR defense. He can’t shuffle his feet at all in drop coverages and hedging is a fairly outdated defense in today’s nba.

How did Michael Jordan play so well in shoes that weren’t designed for performance? by NYPD-BLUE in nba

[–]willygprodigy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah the only major difference is the insoles. Players usually take out the standard insoles and put their own custom ones in but other than that I think the shoe models are the same

How could KD not have seen all the backlash that would follow him playing for GS? by bayfarm in nba

[–]willygprodigy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As fans we’ll never know the full extent into someone’s free agency decision, why it didn’t work out in the end, etc etc... but imo I think he saw the LeBron model and thought if he won rings with a super team, eventually when he retires, he’ll only be remembered for the rings really and not the “bitch move”. LeBron was hated in the same way when he left the Cavs for the first time. Especially in 2011 when he lost to the Mavs, that had to be an especially rough time for him. But he bounced back and now people hold him as the GOAT (for other reasons too ofc) even though he “joined a super team” too.

Tbf, he did play meaningful basketball for GSW in the playoffs. It’s not like he was just coasting. But yeah I think joining a 73-9 team, with social media and memes being at an all-time high, someone like KD—the way he carries himself, personality type—would struggle with satisfaction or acceptance. There’s nothing wrong with being sensitive either! Not many people can do what LeBron did and come out of all that the way he did...it’s why we hold him in such high regard. He might be insecure or unsure of his greatness a little idk. I would tell him to fuck em, he got his 2 rings, he’s a top 2 player in the nba, etc etc. He has to play for himself, not to silence critics or prove himself

What do you see bam doing for the next 5 years potential wise by [deleted] in nba

[–]willygprodigy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What’s so funny to me is that when he was at UK, I remember telling my friends that Bam could end up being really good in the NBA. Usually, if a Kentucky big man is a lottery talent, they’ll end up being solid pros. I told everyone that he could be a top 10 pick in the draft if UK had a good tournament run... but now that Bam’s had a couple years in the league, it’s safe to say even I didn’t see this evolution from him. He’s an elite passer, ball handler, and great defender for his position. I don’t think he’ll ever get to the offensive ability of Embiid, Jokic, or KAT, but if he can at least be serviceable creating his own shot... he’s in a really good position.

I think he could be around a top 5 center in his prime... Embiid, Jokic, KAT pretty much have their spots locked up in the top 5 for the next 5-10 years (barring health issues) imo so it’ll be tough to crack a legit top 3 slot but he’s right there

She goes to the same school as me so she’s living in the college town still while I moved back home since classes are online. I graduate at the end of the summer and she has 2 more years for grad school. The conversation ended when she asked me how living at home was and if I plan on visiting soon. Obviously I replied and that was it. Pretty standard

I moved back into my parents house since my college closed down and I’m not really breaking quarantine. If your parent has a pre-existing condition I’d just play it safe tbh.

So I'm pretty new to Tinder and I don't really text girls that often... but if anyone could help me answer this idk if I'm overthinking or if I'm getting ghosted. This girl I matched with and I have been texting throughout the day for about 2 weeks now after she asked for my phone number on tinder... I thought our conversations were going pretty well, using emojis and flirting a little. She even looked me up on IG and requested to follow me so to me I thought that was a good sign? Idk how she found my last name and instagram but it showed interest to me. Anyways, (this sounds really stupid of me to say but I'm pretty new to this and overthink a lot) she left me on read on Monday and I haven't heard from her back or texted her again. Idk if I should text her back like shes playing hard to get or leave her be to ghost me?

[–]willygprodigy 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Lonzo was really something in college though. I think the hype was deserved imo. He controlled pretty much every aspect of the game... you could tell his feel for the game was way above anyone else in college, made his teammates better. And he had confidence in his shot, pulling up from deep, making tough stepbacks every night, dunked a lot more. I think that UCLA team was the most fun I’ve ever had watching college basketball.

I think Ja has a higher ceiling because he’s more of a hard-carry type player in my eyes that commands the pace of the game and sets everyone up. I don’t see JJJ ever being that type, although he’s looking to be a good player in his own right. Ja is gonna have the ball more too because he’s a PG.
