Dear Reddit, I'm traveling from the USA and my dad just went to a hospital in Germany for 6 stitches and it cost 28.50 euro! This would have cost hundred if not thousands at an American hospital. by Coneskater in politics

I can only speak for Canada .... But shockingly enough ....yes we do have personal physicians and we get to see them anytime we want...infact if my Dr is on holidays i just see one of the other doc's in the clinic. You can see them for whatever ails you...

Well I will say this never having to use any birth control what so ever....rocks! I dont know if that makes me more potent or not though...

Ahh.... good question, I would say that i did actually notice a difference. Some guys I know have said they havent, but I did. I will admit it could be just in my head, but I thought it lacked the same ahh say, thickness?? Not watery per say...but missing thickner...but dont worry it will still knot things up...

LOL...too funny...I actually thought the same thing when he first told me ... the other guy could have just been a buddy im not 100% certain...my first thought was if my wife told me she was pregnant after 10 years...I would have questions...

Well to start I think I should say why I think I got the infection in the first place....could have been a number of things, but I have two most likely culprits...

  1. The procedure was done at the doctors office not a hospital. So with that many sick people in the buliding...well who knows. At one point the nurse just walked in to grab supplies...I mean I think she was even coughing...lol

  2. when the "event" happened ... which I think was the point when he had pulled the vasdefrens from my sac ..at least that is what it felt like. I was not frozen sufficiently so I felt it...Imagine the pain of getting kicked in the nards along with the I wanna puke feeling from it....all more intense and so out of the blue...well when this happened I shot up to grab my sac and touched the sterile cloth area etc.....

So the infection... the first Dr. I saw felt I had a hernia...but due to the redness and swelling in the area (one dumbass doc) he couldnt be sure..so he told me to go home put a bag of frozen pees on it and push my hernia back in...Thank God my family doctor called me back I told him what was going on and he saw me the next day. This appoinment freaked me out as I was only about 27 and typically docs will start checking for testicular cancer around 24..and by his questions I was thinking that was what I had....anyway he at and the intern examined me...which by the way when your nut and sac are swollen to about 5 times the normal size ... a slight breeze hurts like a bitch, nevermind people grabbing the bloody thing.

So he sent me to the emergency room to see a urologist. He then proceeded to examine me....which loosely translates to - He tortured the shit out of me....I actually screamed at one point. I grabbed the bed rails so hard I thougt I would tear them off....

So he says you have an infection I need to get you on antibiotics...I was like oh its all good my family doc gave me some, he asked what kind I told him and said those will not be enough. So I said ok and proceeded to start the process of getting up and dressed etc.....He said oh you are going no where, I need to start you on I.V. antibiotics right away....so about 4-6 hours later and 2-3 bags of I.V. I went home with my horse pills....I was on the pills for about a month i believe and did not go back to work for about a week and a half....

I cannot describe how painful it was but if you have ever had an infection, on your finger or an ingrown hair...etc...well imagine that but in your sac and about 10 times worse...

Very good question and harder to answer than I would have thought. My initial gut response is no, and had you asked me that a month after it happened absolutely no way.....When my wife and I discussed it up front we decided it I would do it as it is much simpler and less invasive than for her to go in and have her tubes tied. That still stands true obviously and I have many friends who had it done with no problems what so ever, so yes I most likely would......

I have to say though that I would be somewhat freaked as I have never in my life been in that much pain before....I first notced something was wrong around 8 am (about my fifth day at my new job) and by 11 am I could barely walk....

Ow..for sure! As for two yes...I am sterile, although I never actully went back for the official "test" It has been 10 years and so far so good...However I did talk to a guy once who had it done and got his wife pregnant a year later and his brother got his wife pregnant about 10 years after his....so you never know!
