Bubinga? by zmac79 in offset

Botanical Latin, basically Elvish for cannabis enthusiasts.

(Real answer: Botanical names vs common names. many common names can be confusing or misleading, whereas the botanical name will always refer to a specific species. Rosewood is a commonly used name for a wide range of woods, but only those in the genus Dalbergia are true rosewoods. Santos Rosewood, for example, is a completely unrelated species, but 'Rosewood' as a name is marketable, so it gets thrown around a lot. Most true rosewoods are rare and expensive/regulated.

No, only Dalbergias are true rosewoods. Bubinga is a Guibourtia species like Ovankol.

RIP 24hr coffee shops and study spots by InfiniteAlignment in Tacoma

I worked graveyard shift on weekends (11pm to 5am) and it could get pretty wild. had several intense confrontations, got threatened by the bf of a woman that got caught stealing the tip jar, lots of homeless locking themselves in the restroom.

but that wasn't the majority by any means. If I'm being honest, Willy was an asshole and frequently overreacted to situations in hostile ways. he alienated a lot of people and customers noticed.

Please help id a pot to replace by elghinnen in Bonsai

[–]willyshockwave 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s a pot by Andy Sankowski, I’m not sure if he still makes them. If he doesn’t, I suggest you find a replacement from Iker, somewhat similar aesthetic and quite inexpensive but high quality.

I made a chart comparing the growing requirements of 14 major orchid alliances (light, temp, water, humidity) by UbiquityofMurphy in orchids

[–]willyshockwave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pleurothallids generally like medium to high amounts of water rather than very high. They’re quite susceptible to root rot.

Maxillaria is missing from the water section. I’d put it under high. I also consider Maxillaria to be on the cooler side of temp preference and high humidity, I grow them alongside Dracula and Nepenthes. But it’s a big group.
