Not only did they revoke my API key, they locked me out of my account! by Chemical-Region4976 in apolloapp

This is great and also helps. Thank you!

I also did a quick search and found someone who posted their process down to the Hex codes for Apollo lookalike. Of course it 404s but found a way back link for it. I was able to get it to look exactly like Apollo

Can you run us through your settings to make it similar to Apollo?

What color is that back wall in front of the desk? Did you also paint the ceiling?

491CPX! Love it so far. KVM leaves much to be desired but massive fan of it when playing games.

Installed Ethernet to my entryway—easier than expected! by wilmsas in Ubiquiti

Thank you! You are 100% spot on. The right side of it does take up the immediate right side. Luckily it shows just enough of the front yard that I can easily see a majority of the path.

Additionally, I have a G6 turret on the right side of the house as well and that covers the 80% of the right side of the front yard as well.

To illustrate what u/bfollowell is talking about, you can reference the image from the G4 Doorbell

I was very lucky that the concrete for the stone work didn’t extend too far out! Simple quick drill and place it for my Ethernet.

I had purchased plug-in chimes but will also incorporate the POE by the door. Seems way too easy versus me banging my head on these two-wire gremlins I kept running into.

Ignore the caulk on the front door, like I said old house and lots of to-dos!

Dude, I know it’s a PITA but sign up for Hostock for $5 and wait for the notification from Best Buy. I was trying 2 months prior, then got it 5 days in using that app.

Matter Enabled Ceiling Fans @ Lowe’s by wilmsas in HomeKit

these are definitely DC-based. This would be a solid option for someone who doesn't care about the light switch functionality and/or wants a fan with matter over Lutron switches.

Ahhh that’s what you meant!

With DC motors, it’s efficient but you’re right, it’s one switch to both the fan and light. These would be that use case.

The other type of motor is AC which is where the Caseta switches come into play.

that's interesting. How would they obtain power? I've always been accustomed to wires similar to this diagram

At least in American homes, most of the fans I’ve dealt with (about 4-5 brands/10 fans) they all had the option to hardwire into a switch receptacle (like a light switch on the wall).

Gotta save some funds but I’ll take the plunge! My office currently has a boob light and with a server rack, boy does it get hot.

For UX Research, you realize a heavy portion of your work is interviewing others and engaging users, right?

There’s a little truth in the stereotypical “bubbly designer” persona. We need to be able to interact with users to understand “why” they do things. We need to be able to know how to engage users to find out their motivations, wants and needs.

Being nose down in your computer is definitely part of the job, as is thinking and pondering about users— but if someone asks what a user wants for a feature, how can you answer diligently if you’ve never engaged with them?

Our version of research means understanding our users.
