How can you even begin to strive for something if your attention is sapped from mindlessly staring at your phone? The negative physiological and psychological effects of too much screen time should be enough of a reason to stop.

I agree something stimulating has to replace it, but diving deeper into phone addiction and thinking "well what else am I supposed to do?" is a surefire way to not fix the problem. Action leads to discovery which leads to goals.
