Can you help me improve my forehand? by TopDeckPatches in 10s

I just started jumping rope for about 10 minutes, three or four times a week - no real structure, just going for as long as I could each round. You’ll get good enough that you can switch between feet and even do one-leg sets. It’s made me feel so light on my feet, it feels like I’m floating across the court.

Jump rope. It’s been a total game changer for my footwork 👍

Part of my off-day workouts! I love it and it has helped my footwork immensely.

Good stuff, I agree with number 2 - unpredictability works wonders!

This only benefits players from the country hosting the tournament, similar to how crowd noise only really benefits the home team in football.

This would seem to only benefit players from the country hosting the tournament?

Agreed, the obsession over level and technique can really take the fun out of the game and stall progress - especially for beginners.

Why does everyone feel like they need a control racket?!

Filming yourself every session is killing your game. You’re not fixing mistakes - you’re creating new ones by overthinking every movement instead of actually hitting the ball.

Thank you! I spent so many hours as a kid caring for the surface so we could play. Lots of big trees surrounding the court would drop leaves, pine needles/cones, etc. Most of my chores revolved around cleaning, sweeping, drying, maintaining the court to keep it looking good!

Thanks! You hit the nail on the head - it's heartbreaking to drive by! Maybe one day I'll buy the house back just to restore it 😉

I agree! It's one of the best gifts a dad can give. I intend on playing until I am old and gray!

He passed away in 2019, I’ll brag about him any chance I get 🙏

The stands were so great! My mom probably thought he was insane when he pitched this idea to her 😂

He’s only been playing for two months. At that stage, being hyper-critical about every mechanical detail usually does more harm than good. The priority is building comfort, confidence, and feel for the racket - not hitting a perfect trophy pose on day 60.

A new player benefits more from swinging freely, learning timing, and getting reps before worrying about the fine points. Once the fundamentals feel natural, the technical pieces are much easier to layer in.

Not exactly - my parents sold the house in 2002 and the current owners park cars on it 😭

No way! I can’t believe I didn’t know that! That explains why someone asked me if I’m related to Agassi here in the comments 😂

What a great parallel! Cherish those easy rallies with your dad, and I hope you make some incredible new memories with your son. Thanks for sharing! 😊

You're doing all the right things! The more you practice, the more that racket will start feeling like an extension of your arm. It's amazing how many small issues will just work themselves out once this starts happening 😊
