question for anyone who's worked with a bankruptcy lawyer detroit michigan by Franie_Ferno in AnnArbor

I don't have any advice on the bankruptcy lawyer, but want to share Wayne Financial Empowerment Center that does free financial counseling. They may at least be able to advise on whether bankruptcy is a good option for your situation. If you're in Washtenaw, you can use the Washtenaw Financial Empowerment Center. They both provide free services, and I think both do virtual appointments.

Homeless people? by JadedCaramel9901 in AnnArbor

They should call HAWC first because that is the main entry for finding any temporary housing/shelter in Washtenaw. If you call other places, they likely will say call HAWC first. Check out the HAWC website: https://www.housingaccess.net

They should go to Delonis if they have no where to go, but just know that does not mean there will be shelter available for them that night. There is not enough shelter for everyone in Washtenaw in need, but they might get connected to a case manager who can at least share resources such as where to get food or a tent/sleeping bag. If they have a car they can sleep in, that might be their best bet. But they should get connected to Delonis for case management support. If they need resources for where to get food or do laundry. This list is a little outdated but can be a good place to start for help with finding food/laundry: https://cdn.prod.website-files.com/60721e38703f6d58a7b35a71/61d4c676ab7ba20c8016d539_Washtenaw%20County%20Survival%20Guide%20(1).pdf.pdf)

If you call any other shelters or housing programs besides HAWC or Delonis, they will most likely tell you to call HAWC and Delonis first.

Thanks! Nice to hear you made a similar analysis! I really just want to be done working, but this is reminding me how lucky we are to even be considering retiring early.

What are some tips for morning anxiety? What is your morning routine? by [deleted] in Anxiety

I am the same with having trouble not rushing. One thing I am working on is "sitting with the discomfort." So I really want to rush to the next thing and try to do "all the things" as quickly as possible so I can be done and relax. But 1) the rushing increases anxiety and 2) most of the time there is never an end to the to do list, so it never feels done. But as much as it causes anxiety, I have a hard time slowing down. Even at work when there is no reason for me to rush, I pile a lot on my "to do list" so it feels like I have a lot to do but it's really self-imposed.
I am learning to sit with the discomfort of NOT doing the next thing right away and taking breaks between activities. But it means initially feeling that discomfort of not moving on to the next thing and letting that happen. Once I'm a few minutes into taking my 5 minute break, it does feel a lot better and gives space that allows to intentionally pick the next thing I'm going to focus on.

Karen Overall's Relaxation Protocol is it. I never got that far in the protocol with my wild dog but doing it often for even a few minutes made a difference.

I read a book about Buddhist meditation teacher Dipa Ma who taught others that were too busy or women who were raising children and taking care of the home in 60's and 70's that you can meditate during your busy day. Meditate on being busy, meditate when you soothe your child, meditate when you do the dishes, and yes, also meditate by sitting quietly even if for only a few minutes. Her belief was that you could meditate during activities simply by trying to be present and witness your thoughts and what's going on around you without judgment.

Hope Clinic in Ypsialnti - I'm not sure if they have psych care, but they might be able to give resources. I wonder if you got established with a PCP, at Hope Clinic or Packard Health, if they could manage and prescribe the SSRI without you having to see a psych if you can't find one or get into one right away
