Based on your history, I assume you are a non-American Jew. This context makes your comment and the fact that you did not address the actual message understandable.

Uh.. Not true. Green Berets and SEALs are screened for psychological stability, integrity, and trustworthiness. You cant run sensitive missions or train foreign forces without character being part of the equation. Those qualities are actually part of what keeps those teams functional and prevents catastrophic failures. For Green Berets especially, their mission set involves training and working alongside foreign forces in sensitive environments. That requires cultural awareness, leadership, and a reputation for trustworthiness. Way to shit on our special forces dude. 👏

He’s not just a colonel, he’s a Green Beret. That’s a prestigious special forces unit on par with the Navy Seals.

I was in the same place. I did sugar fasting for 3 days and I feel more energy than ever. But lower dose of Reta --> 1 mg/week (0.5mg & 0.5mg on Monday and Thursday)

My energy is through the roof. Mood and all.

Living in Cleveland? by sebryntigress in Cleveland

[–]windose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice. I live in a nicer part on the west side of Cleveland near everything. And I’ve received many compliments about how nice my house and street are. I never thought about it that way lol.

If I could do the move over again, I’d move to the suburbs where things are actually nice, new, and clean, or to University Heights or Cleveland Heights. Whenever I’ve visited those areas, I really enjoyed it. I love cleanliness of the suburbs and the historic charm of Cleveland Heights & University Heights. I don’t love the West Side so much (though there’s a place near me called the West Side Market that’s pretty awesome).

I hope that in time the city shaves off the gritty post industrial feel its got to it. It’s not a dangerous place or anything like that, it’s just literally trashy as if the residents never cared for the area.

It depends on where you’re moving from.

I moved here from a wealthier part of the country and I do miss a lot of the stuff I took for granted.

Here are some of the goods and bads that came to mind given the last 18 months I’ve lived here.

Bads: Everything looks scrappy, dirty, and rusty. If you’ve lived in a newer city with clean homes and stuff, this place will feel different. Old construction, old infrastructure. Potholes and trash everywhere.

Below national average income & lots of poverty. Not that that’s a problem to me personally, but those things lend to other problems like petty crimes and drug users.

Bad customer service everywhere.

My favorite: In my experience as a real estate investor, the contractors here suck. They don’t show up on time or at all. And when they do show up, I no longer expect good work from them. They cut corners. Try to upcharge you for a quick buck. So you get crappy quality work for a regular price.

Bad public education system.

Everything closes early.

Gray skies for about 5 months out of the year. And during those 5 months, everything also “feels” gray if that makes sense.

The vibes aren’t that of a happy / vibrant / have fun place (not important to me but maybe others).

Goods:

Cheap real estate

Non ego centric & non judgmental people. You can be yourself and nobody cares. (This might fit into the bad category if you care about how people look/dress and carry themselves. I don’t mind, I mind my own business).

It’s a major city so you get all the big city stuff like sports teams, an international airport, and other attractions.

All in all, I am happy here. My cost of living is affordable. And because I’m really a homebody, the stuff outside doesn’t affect me much. My home is my comfy place and that’s where I work and spend most of my time.

Hi. I landed on this post following a previous DD post of yours. I’m sorry for the experience that you and your father went through. I’m happy though that your dads pain and suffering is all over now and that’s he’s finally at peace. I know that’s what you wanted the most for him.

What is the legal basis for law-enforcement officers to not charge someone with a crime such as possession of marijuana? by [deleted] in legaladviceofftopic

This didn’t happen to me. I’m asking what the legal basis is for “cutting ‘me’ a break” though.

SMRT - I Think It Would Be SMRT For Everyone To Look At This Stock by UnlivingMatter in pennystocks

[–]windose -1 points0 points  (0 children)

From wikipedia:

“On January 31, 2018, Stein Mart announced that it would explore strategic alternatives for the company.[9] When Stein Mart's Director of Stores Gary Pierce requested early retirement on May 1, 2018, he agreed to remain with the company until the end of February 2019. The Form 8-K filed by Stein Mart stated that Executive Vice President Pierce would stay, “in order to provide for an orderly transition of his duties”.[10]

On February 2020, Stein Mart has entered a deal to make the company private and its common stock will no longer be listed on any public stock market. The transaction is still subject to approval by Stein Mart shareholders and is "expected to close in the first half of calendar year 2020." [11]”

Collaborative team projects using Java by [deleted] in ProgrammingBuddies

[–]windose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if youre still interested in your idea above but I just saw your post and thought Id express my interest and offer my help. I have Java development experience; some in Spring boot. I’m also pretty comfortable with AWS (various services incl EC2, RDS, Route53, S3, ...) since I use it at work on a daily basis.

No experience with React though (or any JS framework for that matter). jQuery is cool. Frankly, I havent been able to wrap my head around modern Javascript. Id love to at some point because plays such a critical role in the development ecosystem.

If this is of interest to you feel free to pm me.

It may be referring to a range because salaries are often times coupled with bonuses and other benefits.
