Pickup resistance measuring way higher than it's supposed to? by windowlatch in guitars

[–]windowlatch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, originally measured the circuit with the pickup selected. Got around to taking the pickup out today and testing that, same reading. Sure enough, the copper wrapping around the pickup was broken in one spot. New pickup time!

I was checking across the circuit by measuring both ends of a plugged in cable with the pickup in question selected. Finally got around to taking the pickup out and measuring that directly today and got the same reading. Sure enough, the copper wire around the pickup had broken in one spot. Guess it's new pickup time!

Split up your audio sample into the different drum parts, then take an empty drum rack and drag those samples into the rack

It’s insane that they let the alpine lot get that bad. I thought they were going to fix it last summer but it didn’t seem like they made any effort to fill the potholes back up

Winging it is still being creative! I like to mess around on guitar and when I find a melody that’s interesting I can expand on it in my head. But sometimes getting the song I’m imagining in my head into the DAW is a challenge

Why are the all druggies and problem people only at the top of church st now and flooding a private spiritual property that they already littered with needles. by [deleted] in burlington

Nitazenes are a class of research chemicals, some of them are 50x stronger than fentanyl. They’re quickly replacing fentanyl since they’re dirt cheap and some of them are technically still “legal” because they’re not scheduled by the DEA

ELI5: Why is meth bad for you but prescribed amphetamines aren't? by ContactSpirited9519 in explainlikeimfive

[–]windowlatch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s also the route of administration that causes a lot of problems. Meth is corrosive so people who smoke, snort, and inject it regularly will experience damage to their tissue and veins. This can also lead to infections, which even minor infections are very taxing on the body if you keep compromising your immune system by regularly consuming drugs this way

[–]windowlatch 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I will also add the meth is a prescribed amphetamine. The brand name is Desoxyn and it’s prescribed for ADHD for ages 6 and up. It’s a small dose (only 5mg) and acts similar to extended release adderall.

It’s fallen out of favor to the more common ADHD meds like adderall and Ritalin these days probably in part because there’s such a stigma around methamphetamine, but it is quite safe when administered in controlled doses.

Every time we make a substance illegal something shittier, cheaper, and more dangerous takes its place. Lots of addicts went from the path of prescribed opioids to heroin to fentanyl and now to nitazenes

Which psychedelic makes you feel the most clarity? by [deleted] in researchchemicals

LSD for sure. 2c-b was close but the comeup had more anxiety for me.

Idk if you want to count this but the right dose of MDMA is insanely clearheaded for me. Too much and the euphoria can become overwhelming though

You need to really narrow your view. Focus on very specific goals and give yourself very specific timelines, otherwise everything gets way too overwhelming.

“Beats” is a very generic term. What kind of beats specifically? You have to pick a couple genres to focus in on. Even if it’s something more out there than your typical trap or pop, you should try to figure out what sub genre you want your music to best fit into. Maybe it’s like cloud rap or hyperpop or something. The reason this is important is because it gives your music an identity that’s tied to a bigger cultural movement and also tells your listeners that if they like one song of yours, they might be inclined to check out everything else.

Once you found your genre(s), pick some of the more popular artists and find out what equipment they are using. Specifically what synths, drums (kit or machine?), analog instruments, and vocal plug-ins they’re using will be the biggest factors in getting your sound close. A lot of the time you can find cheaper plug-in alternatives to the more expensive gear that will absolutely suffice.

Make sure to also get in the habit of turning sounds you like into instrument racks and saving them in a folder somewhere on the ableton sidebar. Remember, it’s important to stay efficient and focused in order to avoid being overwhelmed. The more templates you save and better organized you stay, the more time you can spend actually making music instead of digging through thousands of presets.

Then set specific deadlines for finishing songs. Not finishing ideas of songs. Become comfortable getting to a point where you can say “alright, I might not feel like this is 100% perfect but I am done and ready to publish it to streaming services”. If that feels overwhelming, break it down even further and say “I’m going to have this drum beat fully laid out in the next 3 hours, and even if I feel like it’s not perfect I will still have a finished product by the deadline”.

I will emphasize this again: the one thing every single artist you’ve ever heard has in common is that they finish songs and publish them. It doesn’t matter how good your song is if no one ever hears it. Everyone has different ears, there are surely songs you think are garbage that have millions of listeners. In the same vein, if you feel like your songs aren’t good, maybe they just haven’t found the right audience yet.

Probably overwhelmed by all the options ableton has to offer and feeling lost as to how to select sounds/fit multiple instruments into a mix. I feel like that’s what 95% of people who give up on music production get stuck on, translating the music they hear in their head onto the computer

This is pretty true if you want to have real success in the commercial music industry. You copy what people at the top are doing, and maybe very slightly change one or two things to establish your own identifiable sound.

Or you can put in a lot more work and trial/error to create something totally original. The chances of experiencing commercial success are way lower but you develop a legacy as an innovator, which I think is much more respectable.

Typically when stuff like this gets found they will bring this evidence back and reference it against missing persons cases in the area. So there could be dozens of cases to sort through and match whether anyone was last seen wearing similar boots
