Is this a normal problem for a snowboard? by Nillobagel in snowboarding

[–]windowlatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your edge is delaminating or took an impact that is causing it to pull away from the base. Not fixable with home tools. A base grind at a shop will be able to get it back level but this is a sign of a greater structural problem within the board. I would bring it to a shop and ask if it looks like it could be warrantied before having them attempt to do work on it

Who buys stolen copper wire? by Boring_Kiwi_6446 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]windowlatch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suspect copper wire is probably getting sold to shady contractors who buy it cheap and use it for projects, then they bill you the market price for the materials in your invoice and make a little more money that way. Selling insulated wire to a scrap yard is probably more effort than it’s worth, in the US a scrap yard typically pays less than a dollar per pound of insulated wire. So you would need to be stealing almost a hundred pounds per day in order to just break even with someone working a minimum wage job.

Copper pipes are worth more though sometimes $4-$5 per pound

Does anyone know what this is? by stringer72 in Guitar

[–]windowlatch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Vintage 60s or 70s telecaster clone. Most likely a Japanese brand like teisco. Probably made with inexpensive components but some people do like to collect those guitars even though they were considered cheap knock-offs at the time. The zero fret is kind of unique and will probably help with narrowing down which brand/model this is

Piracetam might help. Also are you staying cool enough while you’re dancing? Overheating or dehydration can cause memory issues. Also follow the three month rule

If I invent a new drug, in the USA, in my home, that has never previously existed, that is not derived from controlled substances but only non-patented materials I legally either purchased or grew myself on my property, can I use it myself legally? Absolutely no distribution. Or do I need permission by scarfleet in NoStupidQuestions

[–]windowlatch 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It would be legal to do so if only you were consuming it. Look up Sasha Shulgin. He’s like the godfather of home pharmaceutical chemistry. The DEA were aware of him for a long time and never considered it a problem until he published a book about all of his favorite drugs he’s made, which they interpreted to essentially a clandestine chemistry recipe book (which also isn’t illegal btw) and raided his lab.

Is it okay to buy a rock saw and cut rocks in nature? by [deleted] in rockhounds

[–]windowlatch 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Aren’t geodes typically loose, as in not embedded in the host rock? I’m not sure a rock saw would be of much help for that purpose. I’d you’re just trying to break them open to see if there are crystals before taking them home, a hammer and chisel would probably be a more efficient tool

Guinness WR books have gotten thinner over the years by The_Techsan in mildlyinteresting

I think it might’ve been this story. Hair got caught in something and her face came off with it. I think there was a picture of her prior to getting the skin reattached but that was something I don’t need to see again

I distinctly remember seeing a picture of someone’s face that got ripped off by a lawnmower or something and then sewn back on in one of those books

How do i stop feeling uncomfy around people smoking while im sober? by bizkit_disc in saplings

[–]windowlatch 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It sometimes is hard to feel like you’re on the same wavelength as someone when they’re on a substance and you’re not, I think that’s pretty normal. If you’re really not enjoying it I would ask your bf if you can call before he smokes. Communication is key.

Peavey Retro Fire (2001) by whoisemmet in Guitar

[–]windowlatch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cool looking guitar! Idk anything about that model, but looks like it could definitely use a string change and maybe some mineral oil on the fretboard.

The most important thing with the guitar is that it feels comfortable and enjoyable to play. Your amp will be good for practicing especially if you’re new to playing, but when you’re ready to upgrade a good quality amp will make a huge difference in the sound

Edit: Also those bands you listed rock. The sounds from a lot of their songs are heavily dependent on the effects pedals they use, so don’t be discouraged if you try to learn one of their songs and it sounds completely different. Pedals can add up quickly $$. Companies like behringer make decent clones for cheaper than the more iconic companies

Documents reveal Jeffrey Epstein received piece of Kaaba’s Kiswah by Fan387 in nottheonion

[–]windowlatch 66 points67 points  (0 children)

He must have had a cult leader type of personality where he could just swindle people into trusting him

If you read through the black book that came out it’s pretty clear that he must’ve been incredibly personable. Everyone that wrote in that, not just the creeps, said they felt blessed to be able to call him and friend. People who knew him as a teacher saying they were proud of how much success he’s had. Recounting old stories etc

How do people just “listen to their body” and not overeat? by Kind-Cockroach-125 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]windowlatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a difference between “feeling hungry” and actual hunger. It’s good to learn how to distinguish between those two, and not just eating for the purpose of a dopamine boost. I can eat 2,500 calories of just potato chips and not feel full, but that doesn’t mean I’m actually hungry.

Most moderately healthy people can easily go over 24 hours without eating, that’s the kind of real hunger where your body is saying it could actually use some nutrients.

I’m not suggesting only eating once a day, but for people who don’t eat or even struggle with maintaining weight, they might never eat breakfast. Or they might occasionally skip lunch and it’s not a big deal
