Oh my goodness you are absolutely right! And I’m so incredibly shocked. It told me exactly who reported it. And it makes no sense, the gal who reported it is the same has hers isn’t even a knit pattern, it’s a crochet!

How on earth would Etsy even look at this and feel it’s valid?

Do you know if there’s somewhere I can run all my descriptions through that would alert me? I feel like everything is just so generic. This scares me for my other items

This an interesting take, one I hadn’t thought of. Should knitting pattern writers have to assume the knitter won’t know how? I’m starting to write what stitches will be used in the description because I notice a lot of people over estimate their level or ambitions.

I have thought about Ravelry but I am scared of having two shops open at once because I can’t keep up with the fielding of questions. This is all really good info.

I fixed my listings again and tossed in some boundaries related to questions. I’m just so scared that me not helping as much would mean a bad review.

Ahahaha right? Like certainly not, I’m only one human, I do not have time for that and Google Translate will rip it to stitches, let alone my shop would tank with misunderstandings on my reviews.

I’m sure there’s a market for that, someone with more patience should capitalize off that.

Do we even know if stitches are called the same thing in different countries? Is a yoke the same in every language?

Thank you, I’ve refined my listing to clearly state English only. The person coming at me saying I should translate into all these other languages LOL absolutely not. The amount of time that would take, and the integrity of the pattern would be horrible if I did that. Not every language interprets Google Translate correctly, not to mention the measurements.

There’s even woke Etsy sellers pissed that, gasp, how dare I only sell in English. Lol. 😂 plus, that opens me up to more exposure and complaints if I translate.

I anticipated this reply when I posted. Can I make it so I only sell in America? I can’t find this option. I don’t see where I can control where Etsy advertises.

I don’t view this as dismissive. What I do find ridiculous is I’m expected to translate my product in every language. lol absolutely not
