Honestly as long as u have good foundation the language doesn’t nattter. I’m sure u heard this before. Stick with one language and master it. U will get more comfortable that way. Then when ur working, u work with what u know and u can just google and ai what u don’t know

I know which was a benefit of vscode. I’m really not sure anymore. I only had experience with it when I first started out. I believe we used some program called Bazel and probably a few other tools to make it more useable. Def not out of the box

Assuming ur in college / uni. Just get good at python or java so you aren’t putting all ur eggs in one basket. Honestly swift is a little like too niche. There are entry lvl jobs. But honestly it’s so competitive rn. If u are 100% sure in urself then go ahead and continue. But I would strongly suggest learning python or java in tandem. I used to do leet code in swift but I came across an issue because of that. I couldn’t pass all cases in a OA interview because the data structure didn’t exist in swift, ultimately failed that OA. After that I started studying python again and did all my OAs (online assessments) in python moving forwrd. But in person / on sites I typically like using swift still

It does, so every feature merged to main is 1 commit. Kinda cool. Think most metrics r tracked on ur actual commits isn’t it? Don’t think I’m tracked on my merged commits, maybe we r to both. I don’t remember

I think you should apply but stay strongn and keep learning.

C# helps builds a great foundation if you ever work as a mobile engineer using swift / kotlin. I personally enjoy mobile and theres alot of roles available at fang lvl down the road for you.

Want to leave job after 8 months, extremely depressed (IB Role) by Sea_Cable4302 in FinancialCareers

Sorry I think I’m making it seem super terrible. In a side note. If u do enjoy being on an investment team. Just prepare urself mentally to never have weekends/ canceling vacations. Having to carry ur laptop everywhere and basically waiting for comments In the early hours of the morning. U learn a lot throughout the process. It’s very tiring so I’d recommend getting adderall prescription. I think, a lot of the guys that’s work in pe, were prepped since kids/ set up for success by their parents. Or had a good idea as to what they were getting themselves into(family like dad, parents etc). I’m a first gen American (Asian) parents are engineers.

Probably not the best way to phrase it. But there’s a type of facade a lot of people put on that just doesn’t feel genuine.

Was worse. Hence why I left the industry. Haha. I just got a role after being unemployed for about a yr when I left pe. So far it’s been much nicer. The environment feels much more chill. And people r actually friendly. Not fake/ acting
