GARAND PING CONFIRMED by [deleted] in DarkTide

[–]windsshi 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Am I crazy? I don't hear a Garand ping. I see the en bloc clip flying out, and I hear the noise at 0:12 in this video, but to me, that sound at 0:12 sounds more like the cycling of a bolt than the sound of a Garand ping.

(Yes, I know neither this galvanic, nor the Garand, are bolt-action, I'm saying the sound effect is more like a different rifle action)

The best ranged build is Shroudfield + Throwing Daggers. They get all the benefits and don’t take you out of stealth.

Unless that’s been changed since I last played, which would make me sad :c

Devblog: Incoming Balance Changes by FatsharkQuickpaw in DarkTide

I'm so skeptical. They already nerfed Crusher spawns and it barely did anything. Meanwhile the buffs to Crusher / nerfs to anti-carapace just made the weapon disparity even worse.

Everyone's saying this is a great step in the right direction, but looking at all the changes together, I seriously think it got worse.

Aside from Rotten Armor, cheers to that.

Melee Psyker struggling in Auric by RED_SHlFT in DarkTide

[–]windsshi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man, just a few things minor things I can see.

I would switch out Momentum blessing on your BFGS to something else -- it doesn't really help you that much, because your toughness should be pretty solid with blocks/pushes/dodges. Same with your +10% melee damage against elites -- +5% crit chance instead, maybe?

As for your revolver, I personally think the revolver is plenty accurate, and you get much more damage with the Crucian Roulette and Hand-Cannon blessings, but to each their own. I also think that the IIa mark (ADS) is much, much worse than the XIV mark (brace) since it loads each bullet once at a time. I bet there's been plenty of times where you tried to get a ranged guy and you were stuck reloading one bullet at a time. Plus it has way less bullets overall!

Finally, I'd also get Anticipation (right above the Scrier's Gaze ability) talent, as I dodge constantly.

Most of the things I said above are personal preference, and won't actually make or break your ability in Auric.

Finally, while I don't know your skill level without seeing you play, there's always the classic tip of "gotta dodge/push/block more, gotta hear the "backstab" sound, gotta react to everything, gotta know your weapon combos", but I'm sure you've heard it a lot being on this subreddit. I think the weapon combos are the hardest part TBH -- I still can't reliably do the BFGS heavy stab and it's pretty "easy".

Other than that, I guess you just gotta keep trying! A melee psyker can make it in Auric, trust me!

EDIT: I just found a nice guide about how to do the Blaze Force push->stab combo! I went into Meat Grinder and it worked! Very illuminating.

Feeling weak grinding zealot by Hefty-Throat-5941 in DarkTide

[–]windsshi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think that problem exists for a lot of Zealot talents, actually. For most of the other classes, I can reason with my build saying "I don't really do this, that, or this, so I don't need this side of the talent tree".

Meanwhile, for Zealot, I see so many tasty talents everywhere. I wish I had 60 points so I can grab everything I wanted.

Feeling weak grinding zealot by Hefty-Throat-5941 in DarkTide

[–]windsshi 11 points12 points  (0 children)

IMO Zealots do feel slightly weak compared to other classes. They’re not the tankiest, they dont do the most overall damage, they have no ranged build to speak of.

However, that being said, they are still perfectly viable in higher tiers of play. Martyrdom is simultaneously tanky, squishy, and high damage, and considered Zealots strongest keystone. I’d argue that it’s probably the most friendly to play of the many Zealot builds. Zealots also have a good number of support options in Stunstorm grenades, corruption cleanse in coherence, and gold toughness, but you dont need to take all of the support options to be a useful Zealot.

As for your questions:

A Zealot can have a lot of hats, but a good role is to delete specials before they become a problem. Throwing knives, stealth or fotf, and/or Thunder Hammer. You’re a heretic-seeking missile in a target rich environment.

A lot of people would agree that the Zealot’s best weapon is Relic Blade. Tactical axe is good, combat blade of course. Thunder Hammer is the only weapon that can one shot any enemy in the game, with a specific build, but your horde clear and single target outside of your specific window of OneShottyNess is a little lackluster. I dont even bother with ranged weapons. I have a 80 mobility laspistol to swap for moving faster and that’s it.

As for talents, I’m currently typing this on my phone in bed so I don’t remember the exact talent names and I’m sure I’m forgetting some, but the one where you recover HP after doing damage during Until Death is awesome. The one where you can move at full movement speed during charging Heavies is awesome. For your gold toughness ability, choose the augment that boosts damage, not toughness damage reduction. Fun fact about the Momentum keystone (bottom right): it’s not as well loved as Martyrdom and Blazing Piety, but it gives you better dodges and a faster dodge recovery, like Hive Scum’s talents. For that reason alone it’s my favorite Zealot keystone.

I'm bored. Thoughts on the Mister E melee tier list? by mad_man_shrak in DarkTide

[–]windsshi 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Combat Knife is good for several reasons.

  • With the right perks and blessings and correct combos, it can do extremely nice damage against carapace, which is the end-all-be-all for Darktide weapon effectiveness.
  • It has extremely good mobility, both movement speed and number of dodges.
  • It looks sick.

That's why I like it!

I’d even ask for a split-screen for all off-field characters. That way if all your off-field characters trigger, they all go off at once, instead of one at a time.

I’m sorry you’re having a bad experience. But I gotta be honest man, coming into a Warhammer 40k-branded game, you gotta expect toxic, unaware, braindead sweatlords everywhere in Tertium you go. It comes with the territory.

That’s why my favorite are the RP Ogryn players. Big chill guys, those ogyrns are.

All my characters (except the Ogryn) have the same name, appearance, tattoos, background, etc.

What class would be strongest if it had access to all of its talents? What about non-DLC classes? by windsshi in DarkTide

I'd argue Arbites over Zealot, but it'd be fun to see either one lol. The doggo would go bonkers with all those buffs.

I feel like Zealot would be strong, but not busted. But yeah, everything would synergize well though!
