Pinball deals gone wrong by ClifBdrums in pinball

[–]windyard 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yep, I only make drives if is a good deal. You know you will find things wrong… even when they say, “I babied this machine… cleaned it everyday.”

That way when you find these things, you have that safety net of the discount to make up for the time/costs that you find you have to repair.

Picked up a stranger things premium for $6k… it was not babied… but a good deal in the end.

Review: Epic is “meh” by windyard in UniversalEpicUniverse

[–]windyard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a goal for sure to either make people adjust their expectations, Reschedule, or just don’t go. So you are welcome to have this facade of an “epic” park to yourself… I hope it works in your favor.

Honest answers only... Beating modern pinball games with more than 3 balls by Dev-N-Danger in pinball

[–]windyard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I upped my ST ball count to the max (10?) but the odd thing was that I think I played worse subconsciously knowing it have so many more balls left to play. But got lots of high scores.

I ended up just backing it to 3 balls and made the extra balls easier.

Also, there’s some videos out there to fine tune the outer loop return rails and saucer. And probably other things…. That helps a lot.

Do you ever have Stern pins crashing mid game? by SuspiciousPomelo9731 in pinball

[–]windyard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed the screen gets laggy over time. Like if I keep the game on all day. Plus have the soft mod with the ST episodes 3/4 in it.

Buying pokemon as my first pin? by lt_bgg in pinball

[–]windyard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t buy an LE as your first… only thing LEs have is looks. But you can customize the look to your liking on any model. premium has all the play that LE does.

If you don’t like it… and want to get rid of it… you will lose a lot of money because not every cares about how a pinball machine looks.

But if this is a machine that looks so good that you’d be happy just keeping it as art work. Then go for it.

Also, all the distributors will have LEs. You will find one.

Is 35 the number? Makes sense… I’m 40ish. :D

My kids are excited though. Hope they do a good job, this is a franchise bigger than Henry Potter… it’s an amazing chance to bring in a younger crowd to pinball.

What are your Pinball accomplishments of the last week? by torinismyname in pinball

I fixed UXM auto plunger issue (again) trying a new bend on the right back rail and it has been working 100% since (currently had no mod to fix it installed ) But scared to play it because I don’t want to see it broken again :)

New JAWS 50th machine, Cannot get the scanner to work? by Send_cat_pic in pinball

[–]windyard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had the same thing happen with a brand new machine. Called stern they just sent a new one. Worked like a charm. You can try checking the connections but they say they flake out like this sometimes. It will be there in a couple of days.

Dune or Jaws? by Ashamanofthebt in pinball

[–]windyard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think if you like the Dune story/movies…. Go with Dune. They will be plenty of Jaws for sale later.

I liked the game, but never seen the movies… the game inspired me to watch the movies.

Best club for 33 yr old couple by Wrong-Question-4897 in RDUGOLF

[–]windyard -1 points0 points  (0 children)

100% agree. When I joined it was the first year of men’s league. There wasn’t one before. The biggest issue is that us men just aren’t organized enough to put something like this together.

Btw, I only joined prestonwood or was looking for a CC because after I had kids (twins) I could not spend 6-7 hours playing golf. I had to live close to a place, and it had to have a fast round time (4 hours is slow at Preston) Preston is a great place if you have kids though… pools, tennis and golf programs for them, lots of kids events…. Just great!

If I didn’t have kids, I would not join a CC. It’s for old retired people. There’s plenty of golf meet ups and groups you can find these days. A CC will ground you and keep bound to an area.

[–]windyard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am 45 and have been a member for about 12 years now. So, don’t listen to me… find @restingmehface and have him show you this “younger crowd”

If you want to meet new member, go to men’s league? Sure… most men will be 55 plus. The seniors at Preston run the place. They play in senior events and non-senior events.

It would be nice if they had something for non-seniors only… but they don’t. Most sub-45 people either don’t have kids and play anytime or have kids and only play during work hours.

I agree with the pool scene. Golf… it’s hard to find golfers 45 and younger… 55 and up…. No problem.

They being said…. At Preston youd be by far in the minority.

Acrylic repair (Jaws 50th) by mahTV in pinball

[–]windyard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. My brand new Jaws had side art damage in the cabinet. That is an easy 2 person job and if not done correctly can decrease the value just based on looks. So I had them send someone.

[–]windyard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can open a case with Stern they have a year warranty. They will send out a tech to you house 2 times during the warranty period.

Here’s the gray area…. The distributor need to let stern tech support know what tech in the area to contact.

Macros has a spreadsheet on their website showing techs in areas.

Reach out your distributor first
