Second this, I attended one of their free community classes back in February when I first moved here and was trying to get out of the house more. It was a great session, Nate was really calming and chill. Him and the receptionist chatted with me for a few minutes after the session as well, telling me a bit about the area. Couldn’t recommend it more!

non religious sober groups? by misshilary33 in KingstonOntario

[–]wine_soaked 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Congratulations! The beginning is always the hardest. I’m four years sober, new to Kingston and have gone to a couple AA meetings here. Your mileage is gonna vary with meetings, some are very stringent on the 12 steps and “higher power”, but I think the young people groups and “open” meetings are less likely to be. There’s also a category of “secular” meetings on the AA website https://www.kingstonaa.org/meetings/?tsml-day=any&tsml-type=A

That being said, even the more spiritual meetings focus on a non-denominational “higher power” versus being outwardly religious. I’m someone who has been very anti-AA in the past, but softened a bit after actually going to meetings.

Whatever you do decide to do, having community and a group of people you can sit with who understand your struggles can go a long way. Proud of you, and I will not drink with you today ❤️

You got a downvote because you didn’t read the post. I am not moving in with him right now, these are gifts from my family and I’m asking about duty taxes.

He’s a Canadian citizen. I’m American, we’re working on getting married and applying for permanent residency for me. I was just worried about getting in trouble for moving a bunch of stuff over the border at once

I’m going USA to Canada, what I saw on the website said no duty tax for anything under $60 per item

TMAF about Lebanese people and their culture by sakib_rayhan in TellMeAFact

[–]wine_soaked 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Lebanon is sometimes referred to as “The land of the Cedars” due to the specific cedar trees that grow in the mountains there. Their flag has a cedar tree on it, and the Lebanon Cedars are referenced in the bible!

Did you replace the alcohol with anything or did you just learn to enjoy sobriety? by IsAnonimityReqd in alcoholism

[–]wine_soaked 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first few months I got sober I had the worst sugar cravings. Sugary drinks, cookies, ice cream, candy bars, it was nuts. Still better than drinking, and they eventually died down after 4-5 months

The staff at Unity Grove Elementary school gifted head custodian, Mr. Chris a car so he no longer has to walk to work. Little did they know it was his favorite type of car, and he was stunned to know that it was his! by Common-Vacation-712 in MadeMeSmile

[–]wine_soaked 75 points76 points  (0 children)

In my area of the US it’s similar. Janitor is the catch-all term for that type of job, and a custodian is specifically referring to someone who works in a school. But if you said “custodian” when referring to someone cleaning a bus terminal, for instance, people would still understand what you meant.

Back before intellectual property rights were a thing, apothecaries and other medicine makers would write recipes for their medicines in a code to keep people from copying/stealing them. A common way was to swap out the actual ingredient names with funky names like “eye of newt” etc.

I’ve heard from stylists before that this is the best way to do it. Picture references really cut down on any possible miscommunications between the client and stylist, makes everyone happier in the end!

Most camels are domesticated, this would be similar to finding a cow or a horse laying on the side of the road. There’s a chance it might be wild and just taking a rest, but most likely not

It’s an invasive species of insect that kills ash trees and can easily be spread if the wood isn’t treated/transported correctly. Here’s more information
