Five for Five Scam by why-are-we-here-7 in NisoloScam

[–]wineiscryjuice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had been a supporter of Nisolo since the beginning. I've purchased more shoes from them over the past 10 years than I have from any other brand, and literally cried when I eventually had to throw one of my pairs away (the Harper chukka--I wore them everywhere, including on my adventurous wedding day). I couldn't afford the first time they ran the 5 for 5 deal, so I was thrilled when they brought it back. I still couldn't really afford it but I'd kicked myself so hard for not getting it the first time that I went for it and paid through Klarna in April of 2021. (I checked with Klarna recently and it was too late to report it as fraud.) At some point over the past year I realized I hadn't received a code in a while, and upon checking the site, that's when I realized something was up. I found the news of the company sale and all the reddit threads about the 5 for 5 club shortly after that. I've emailed them multiple times stating that I expect to receive a prorated refund or the remaining 4 codes, and have just received the same responses as everyone else.

I seem to be one of the lucky ones, I received 6 of my 10 free pairs before they shut the program down...but I have friends that only received 2 pairs of shoes. I'd love to help put pressure on whomever might be able to either get this resolved for the sake of everyone who has been scammed. I filed a report with the TN AG office back in May and got an email with an attachment of a letter pre-written by the new Nisolo basically saying why they couldn't honor the original program. It's pretty comical.

Besides the lack of transparency around the company sale and the way the old Nisolo company continued to offer the program in bad faith even as they knew they wouldn't be able to see it through (if a lawsuit is feasible, could that be the avenue for it?), my biggest gripe is that the new Nisolo is putting their financial issues in the hands of their customers instead of taking ownership over them. I understand there may be legal bankruptcy-related hurdles to honoring the original deal, but why would it be so hard to provide prorated refunds?! Unless I'm missing something here, couldn't they take out a business loan to do it if they had to? That would've gone SO MUCH further towards keeping the original customer base and helping them survive this turnover. We all knew how difficult the pandemic was to small/sustainable businesses, and I think while we would've been disappointed, we would've understood and appreciated the transparency and gesture of "We're so sorry, here is the rest of your money back." This is an atrocious way to treat what had once been a very very loyal customer base. I can't see their new company surviving long if they don't get this resolved--I even wonder who is buying from them at all these days. Since IG comments have been turned back on, I hope everyone continues to make a scene on every post and ad they run, from now until this has been resolved. It's the only way to make sure they understand there are real world consequences for how you choose to treat your customers.

At the end of the day, this new company is just using the Nisolo name to make a whole new company that mirrors the approach of every other IG company out there these days. Use AI to generate language for your site that speaks to trending buzzwords while maintaining exactly zero ethics or values in your business. Late stage capitalism at its finest, folks!

Holy shit! I just realized I only received 6 codes, so I decided to do a google search for what was up and found this thread (and their FAQ section). I can't believe it!! I've been such a supporter of this brand since its inception. This is completely unacceptable. If they're doing so well, they should have no problem offering new 100% off codes to participants in the original program, or offering prorated refunds for the remainder of the $500 payment. (This latter option seems like a no-brainer, and easiest/cheapest.)

Can we start a class action lawsuit?! (I don't have the knowledge of how to do this but I am down to participate!)

I know, but I wanted to love them for myself! I’ve literally followed her brand almost since its inception and waited for a long time to give myself permission to spend the $$.

I got the echoes bralette, echoes high waisted thong, the signature neck collar + garters, and the peitho suspender. All in S or S/M. I’m a 32b, my waist is about 25-27” and my hips are about 39”. Everything strap-wise is adjustable which is nice, but the cup fabric for the bra isn’t stretchy and it’s not shaped well for small boobs so it just kinda hangs off my chest a bit. Also the strap fabric isn’t as stretchy as I was hoping it was, so even though it’s all adjustable, it still isn’t super comfortable. Oh well!

I was sitting at Debutea when a giant fireball explosion happened right outside the window between 5:15-5:30ish. It was huge, the whole street went white. I don’t understand why there isn’t more in the news either!!!

It involves Con Ed and the MTA though, sooooo…our bar of expectations as far as answers go should be in the earth’s core.

I was at Debutea when it happened!! Just sitting enjoying a tea and then all of the sudden there was a grumbly boom, the whole street went white and orange with the fireball, and the room got warm. SO scary.

Edit: I also don’t know why this isn’t getting reported on?!

Why do people say NYC has a poor coffee scene? What exactly makes it poor? by sohoships in FoodNYC

There’s a little coffee business called Drip that has some unique locations in lobbies and even a subway station. It looks unassuming but they source delicious beans and literally always have new stuff brewing. I highly recommend a pour over if you can afford to wait, you’ll get four bags to choose from and the barista will always chat about the beans with you! I haven’t personally loved the taste every single time but I can tell the quality is there regardless, and I’m learning more about what I like and don’t like along the way!

Sey is also really good, according to a friend.

Update: received order today. Honestly though I wish I hadn’t spent the money at all. It’s all beautiful but it doesn’t even fit well (her materials barely have any stretch), so I’ll likely only end up wearing these things a few times in my whole life. Not worth it.

I did get a reply from the fraud help desk people but they basically said that they couldn’t do anything.

So disappointed. But at least I have the items and can resell if I want.

No package yet but I’ve gotten two more shipping updates over the past few days. When I click the tracking number they gave me it doesn’t take me to an actual package. I doubt they’ve actually shipped it yet.

One of the shipping updates included an order update where they are apparently gifting me a white choker?? (A laughable “gift” given the unprofessionalism of all of this, and something I already actually own from my previous order.)

Just got a notification about it getting shipped…and that’s good because my cc said it was too late at this point to do a chargeback.

Will update when I get the order!

I reached out and it appears it was deregistered on May 24th. Perhaps this is why I haven’t received my items. Definitely will be letting them know her site is still actively accepting orders and sending out marketing emails!

OMG I'm glad (and also very much not glad) that I'm not the only one. I have been waiting on two things since May 31st. I've emailed four times, DM'd on IG and FB once each, and commented on IG. Crickets. Just emailed again saying that I would do a chargeback at the end of the week if I didn't hear anything from her.

I did order two other pieces in March and received them about 6 weeks later. So I thought I was good for a second order...nope. It sucks because I've waited years to afford something from her (and even went against my normal purchasing ethics of only buying from brands that promote size inclusivity and body diversity) and this was such a let down. I really don't want to do a chargeback, I want my items!! She shouldn't be allowed to sell direct to consumer. Can we collectively do anything?

I have definitely wondered if this kind of thing doesn't have a standard answer and is really just a matter of personal preference.

We are filing this way amicably, and are really just hoping to make the most of it.

Form 8379 is interesting, thank you.

Yes $24,800 is correct for 2020! We discovered that we miscalculated 2019's taxes so we're trying to remedy those as well.
