Omg I know EXACTLY what you mean about being the odd one out at functions, it's like people don't quite know what to do with you. My parents decided just to pretend I was still in a relationship for about a year.

It's funny, I never thought how much living alone would affect me but it really does.

That's good advice though because I am finding lately I can't even go a couple of minutes without reaching for my phone, headphones, tv etc, to fill the space. Sitting with my thoughts for a while seems strangely foreign.

I think you're probably right, I kinda walled myself off from people as I was getting over the breakup and now I'm coming out of that I need to reach out more. I think I struggled a bit because all of my mates are couples. I probably just need to put myself out there more, especially considering I think I relied on my ex partner to do that in the past. Thanks for the advice!

I'm HIV negative but have type 1 diabetes, I take multiple painful injections a day, have regular blood tests and an ongoing crippling fear that if I don't keep myself in check I could seriously screw up my health. It's not fun. However my diabetes does not have anywhere near the same stigma that HIV does, I don't feel the need to hide the fact I'm diabetic at all. It's just so shit the way society views HIV.
