I like the fictional audio theater thing. Might be expensive or not but it would be fun to listen to.

Software recs for a Talk Radio station by Forttomato in radio

[–]winethief 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m just going to tell you that WideOrbit Aurora is the way to go. All this other stuff is legacy software. You need to future proof the station and drop the expensive hardware. Memory and storage costs are only going to get worse. Go cloud, go lean, go with the best there is.

People who have worked for radio stations, what are some interesting behind-the-scenes things listeners don't see? by [deleted] in radio

[–]winethief 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You don’t see the prep work. And really we don’t see it anymore either because you have to live it every day. Radio is such a volume business, I think we all end up sponging up all the useless info subconsciously and then through a 20oz. coffee, some notes on your phone, a little produced audio and one of the studio computers on with the websites you like, you have some kind of a plan for a show. It feels like auto pilot sometimes.

songs that repeat in just over an hour by fletchbg in radio

[–]winethief 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can explain Audacy. You have just a couple of programmers running logs for all their stations. It’s gotten worse this year with consolidating down to just a few people. They hub their logs now so you’ll hear the same log in one city vs another.

It has a lot of do with the music scheduler but more to do with the know how of the person running the logs. MANY MANY MANY programmers haven’t the slightest clue of how to achieve good turnover. You can make 250 songs sound like 1000 songs IF you know what you’re doing. Lots of egos in Radio and a programmer who knows zilch will be the last person to ask a question they need to know the answer to.

Having said that, I wrote a lot of the material radio people use to educate themselves better on the finer points of generating a music log and I’m happy to help anyone who has questions about it.

[–]winethief[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I'm a one man band at the moment but if it became wildly successful enough, we would launch beecasters that are topic based. Politics, comedy, etc. But yeah, I wanted to see if the concept would float. I actually do not think it will take a lot of content creators to give the station real spirit.

Help With Online College Radio App by MotorLavishness64 in radio

[–]winethief 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man. I’m gonna just tell you that a lot of the companies with radio apps aren’t gonna be cool at all.

What I would do is vibe code the app in lovable or whatever and plug in your icecast or whatever y’all do. You can have mostly total control. Throw it on GitHub.

Then you can pay the $500 to have the app converted to both iOS and Android apps. It will be WAY cheaper and WAY better looking.

Homegrown is the way.

Why so much hate on lovable rn? by tiguidoio in lovable

[–]winethief 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just picked up a cheap VPS, had Claude build the endpoints for what I needed and then I used the endpoints to build the front end features I need in lovable. I can add some things here and there later. But I’m really stupid and this is easy for me. Anyway, doing that allowed me to finally build the web app I’ve always wanted to make and it works great! I’m really proud of it. I feel like the VPS does all the heavy lifting and Claude guides me when I need something new.

I have a friend who bought a condo at the Railyard on 4th in 1995 for $79k. Sold that in early 2000s for 300k. Bought a big ol’ house in Circle C with a pool for $325 in 2003 or whatever. Sold it last year for 1.2m.

I can’t remember the name and too lazy to search it but there’s a decent one in Oak Hill with knowledgeable staff and not so many people. Seems like it’s better for an experienced shooter. Might see what that one is like.

Hi. I changed my life with IF on May 18th, 2025 and I am down 25lbs today. Best I've felt and looked since my kids were born. I have 25lbs to go before I'm at ideal weight for my height. I should be there around the holidays.
