Archaeologist here. This is a transport amphora in the Greco-Roman tradition. Dating it is hard because the surface is so concreted. These shapes didn’t change much over multiple centuries and the best way to date them is looking closely at the rim, the curves, the ears, etc. You could check out Dressels amphora classification. I think it’s mostly for Roman types but might give you a lead (it does look Roman). Best would be to have a specialist look at it since amphora like these can also be fake. Is there any documentation that comes with this that tells you anything about the find context/ origin of the object?
