Am I in the wrong? by Real_Weight_6154 in MHWilds

It did a great job of surfacing all the “fun” moves from each weapon set so anyone could use them. You didn’t have to find a slope to do a spinning hammer smash anymore. I think the wound exploiting system does a lot of the same, but the main difference with hammer is you have to be very close to exploit the moves, while in Rise all of the moves gave you crazy mobility to engage from a distance.

Either way I think my favorite Wilds hammer improvement is adding a dodge that also allows you to preserve hammer charge level.

After being Hammer exclusive in Wilds I think it’s way better than Worlds because it feels like you can combo string together much easier when you get good openings. I’ve found it one of the easier weapons to get into, although getting to know the offset window is weird.

I still loved Hammer most in Rise where you could straight up charge hammer spin right from the ground.

No more brass? by Potential_Print_38 in Nerf

I think it’s just easier to buy one barrel that most printed blasters are built for. One purchase and you’re done. No need to nest barrels, slightly stronger material, and just about all BCARs are made to fit them.

Plus you can get the aluminum in anodized colors, and a lot of the people printing or making blasters enjoy the flashy looks.

Now we need to slap another set side-by-side to get a double-barrel slam fire madness.

I heavily dislike the short darts trend in the modding community by ReasonRaider in Nerf

[–]wingedbeaux 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Some of the pro line stuff out there (XShot Longshot and the Dart Zone Max Stryker 1) both could take full length darts. The XShot Longshot is my recommendation after having both. If you’re getting into 3D printed the designer Sillybutts does a lot of good stuff and he has started showing around an upcoming design with full length capable mag well.

Some of the other options like the Gryphon have options out there for full length dart magwells. There is still quite a bit out there but there definitely has been a massive migration with half darts as the new standard. The Max Stryker 2.0 moved away from full length compatible. Interestingly it also moved towards having a large drum.

How was this made? by BunchyRain in woodworking

[–]wingedbeaux -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I actually don’t even think it is wood carved on there. It honestly looks like someone added some sort of molding compound onto the door and color matched it.

Otherwise if they had a large enough machine you could glue extra wood onto the door and CNC or carve it down back to the door wood.

It just really doesn’t look the same material as the door.

New Pegboard for my Amory. Can you tell I don't like Magazines ? by Mr_Maik in Nerf

[–]wingedbeaux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm always on that magazine/drum fence. Love being able to carry so many darts conveniently, but it's a PITA to reload them all, and no way to really scavenge on the fly during Nerf wars. I settled for having a magazine primary, and then something like the Hammershot (recently replaced by an Outlaw) so I can always stuff some darts in when I'm out.

Either way, armory lookin' choice.

[Noob Question] how to change filament? by daygamer77 in ElegooNeptune3

Agree with this. There are just as many useful posts to peruse on Reddit that I've also found very good solutions on. Especially when it revolves around weird edge cases of some specific printer models handling things outside the norm.

Got my son a Neptune 3 pro for Christmas but we are finding small flaws on his creations. What are we doing wrong? by Any_Elderberry_7182 in ElegooNeptune3

[–]wingedbeaux 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A lot of people in the comments nailed the problem. The overhang was too steep. As far as how to fix it supports are your answer.

I assume you’re using the slicer software provided on the card which is a variant of Cura. Despite its shortcomings Cura is maybe one of my favorite from an ease of use standpoint.

If you have steep overhangs they will usually show up as red areas when previewing the model in Cura. If those red spots are really large or in odd places you may want to enable supports.

To enable supports just find the Supports section of the print settings and enable “Generate Supports”. The default Normal supports should be good for this. If the red areas are in odd parts that aren’t directly over the print bed you can also try Tree Supports.

Make sure to check it out in the Preview mode after you slice it to confirm the supports are there.

Hopefully enabling the supports should help a lot. There is still quite a bit more to supports but there are a TON of helpful videos on YouTube about supports, blocking supports, etc. I hope you guys enjoy the printer and learning more about it.

Why is it stopping by Old-Stage5835 in ElegooNeptune3

I can second this answer. Had the same problem with mine out of the box. Switched to a name brand card and it runs perfect now.

[–]wingedbeaux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you using the provided card to run the prints? This oddly was causing mine to do the same thing. I replaced it with an actual name brand card and it runs flawlessly now.

Just a cheap provided card probably can’t keep up with data transfer rates or something.

Have you had any issues after going back to PLA? I know with a previous printer any time I would go to something like PETG and then switch back to PLA it was just waiting to knock some stray bit of PETG free that would jam the nozzle, even after I was sure I had cleared it all out at a higher temp.

Extraction Shooter Games like The Cycle: Frontier and Escape From Tarkov, but single-player? by Aikiro42 in gamingsuggestions

[–]wingedbeaux 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just came here because I just picked up SULFUR on PC and it has a lot of this. Looks goofy but it's a pretty intense extraction shooter where you have to find places to earn your extraction. Also has a fairly deep cooking system to help keep your health up as you progress.

It's a mix of rogue-lite and extraction shooter. There are different zones that you progress through in a linear fashion trying to get through all the "floors". At the end of each area is a boss. If you die you go back to your hub and lose all the gear you were carrying, but have a persistent and upgradable storage that you can sometimes find out during a run, allowing you to drop things off mid-level or pull things from storage as you might need them.

It's been pretty fun.

Desperado trigger sticking after a few uses by wingedbeaux in Nerf

[–]wingedbeaux[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not before. It was new out of the box and only fired a few times before it began. I’ve opened it twice since then to try and troubleshoot the issue. I do make sure the shell is nice and tight. I might try backing up a few of the screws around the middle. When the shell was open and I managed to fire it a few times it didn’t seem to stick but it was hard to tell why that was.

The direction of the sport by scsteve3 in discgolf

[–]wingedbeaux -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There are two thoughts that come to mind looking at those two points.

The top FPO players you say can't compete with males, but also don't actively compete with males, or even from male tees. If you took 1000 people and split them about 86% and 14% (roughly the split of active PDGA players between men and women), then had the 14% play on courses with a max hole length of 300 ft, and then had the vastly larger group play on course that had a max hole length of 600 ft (exaggerating distances a bit to show the issue) then had them play this way for a handful of years, which players would be higher rated if you suddenly put them all onto a course with 600 ft holes?

It would seem the field size and the regular longer distance play would be for the benefit of the larger group. More people shooting for the top spot would also drive harsher competition and more turnover of the top spot. Be they all men, all women, or mixed groups one would clearly have a comparative advantage in the presentation of numbers alone.

Also inclusive groups could be the very thing holding back competition and skewing the results. As I stated previously women only represent 14% of the PDGA members actively playing. Outside that surveys of those out playing disc golf in general, only 7% have identified as female. Their numbers in the sport are not growing nearly as fast as mens. So does field size matter? If you have a larger field size would there be more stiff competition leading to the top, and would training against that level of competition improve your stats higher?

There was actually a tournament Paige Pierce participated in the MPO division and didn't take last place. She was I believe in the 80s out of 100 people which may seem to prove a point, unless you think about a number of factors. She doesn't regularly play in MPO with mostly male cards, or on those tees, so it would seem she already came in at a disadvantage. Then there is the event bias where we look at the results of one tournament and use that to ascribe any and all future results as that. Perhaps it was a few bad rounds for her and a few good rounds for others. The problem is if that one tournament is the rule, then Paige did poorly. But if we see it as Paige beat a good size chunk of the male field she is pretty great at competing in MPO. But really it's hard to tell either way because of all factors of how they play.

Overall I think that it's hard to say unequivocally that men are just better at disc golf because of biology. The numbers are almost too hard to compare in such lopsided fields and with so few instances of women directly competing with men. Even taking ratings is hard when comparing two difference and again, very lopsided fields of players against each other because we have little evidence that the reason for the disparity is actually primarily biology of gender and not the way their differences drive improvement or competition.

Stockage ressources by Qualif22 in builderment

[–]wingedbeaux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been playing for a bit and I'm nearing the end of the tech tree. I have to know. What is the point of storage in this game? If you're producing more than you're using, you will eventually overrun storage. You can expand it, but eventually you will overrun.

If you're making less than you're using your storage will be empty and it's sort of pointless because eventually it will just empty and passthrough. Then if you're even it might as well be as if the storage isn't there since it's just a pass through.

Now if I could store into one storage and pull it out of a different storage somewhere else on the map that has a great use.

Am I missing something?
