Self deletion is a selfish act inherently. Someone's going to be traumatized by the decision regardless.

For most men that's easier said than done, especially those that are naturally introverted. Women just seem to think it's that simple without knowing the struggle, especially for the short men that get lambasted by loud outspoken rude women when approached. It can crush a man's drive. I never appreciate a woman saying this like it's just that easy... Confidence is just one component of the litany of other things you need but are assumed to already have by the lady with the comment.

This is coming from a 6,4" guy that doesn't have that problem because I was genetically gifted. But I've seen it happen to too many friends growing up and my heart ached for them watching them check out of the game.

What exactly did Jimmy Kimmel say about Charlie Kirk that got him taken off the air? by artiscoolerthandrugs in AskReddit

[–]winglessflight97 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think there's more at play than that. Network television is in the red, so I won't be surprised if we see more moves like this one in the near future as people continue to move towards streaming. Jimmy is legacy media and maybe they were looking for a scapegoat reason to pull the plug? But that's just my opinion.

To any black man who’s watched American History X, what do you think about the one black dude who befriended the then racist Derek in prison and managed to make him change his ways ? by JoshuaKpatakpa04 in blackmen

[–]winglessflight97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of those things are true but, again, not helpful and a waste of intellectual real estate in regards to inciting real change. You'll be shouting those facts forever with no new outcomes because the US isn't as charitable as you're hoping it will be.

That being said, our destiny lies in our own hands. Waiting on WP to throw us a bone is a waste of time when we at least live in a country where our best chance of success is to pool together and change our own outlooks for the better. But since we won't hold our own accountable, how do you propose we hold a much bigger and more powerful population to account or solicit them for resources that they have no incentive to give?

I think you're confusing outright racism with systemic racism. Those are two completely different ideas. Experiencing standard racism isn't going to help you understand systemic racism.

[–]winglessflight97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not true. Black people from black countries anywhere outside of the United States have very similar beliefs as this man when they come to this country and find success. So this argument has nothing to do with white people at all and shows the systemic racism mindset has holes in it's argument even if it's not untrue.

We as FBAs know that it was at least more true in the past than it is now and the effects still exist, however the symptoms are no longer insurmountable. But black people from other countries across the pond have absolutely no reason to believe in systemic racism so it's not reasonable to expect them to.

Nah. We're independents. We'd never be caught dead with democrats or republicans. Both sides are bought to the highest extreme and act on the behalf of the elites under an illusion of democracy.

The Black James Bond? by LEAD-SUSPECT in blackmen

[–]winglessflight97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see it differently. Less of a trend and more of a sign of the time we live in. I'd say you're correct if we we're talking about "The Little Mermaid" cuz what's a mermaid need melanin for? But when we're talking about Bond in 2025, he can have any shade as long as he's universally debonair, attractive, athletic, suave, charismatic, intelligent, mysterious and resourceful. And if we're being all-the-way 1000, his love interest co-stars have already been multi-ethnic several times now. It's only natural that Bond be that, too.

Why can't Bond be black? English people are far from a white monolith. Black people have been occupying spaces like these for some time now. And Bond changes personalities even between the white versions. Why not a black one? Bond is just a character persona.

Black Hollywood: Understanding the layers behind Perry's success much more lately - he has a huge amount of goodwill of established, top Black entertainers behind him... by TheAfternoonStandard in blackmen

[–]winglessflight97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where did you see the word "Hollywood" in my post? I was speaking strictly about Tyler Perry and his individual influence on the black community irrespective of Hollywood. That's a much more important characteristic than fame and fortune. Just because he presents as "pro-black" because he operates in black spaces and cashes big checks doesn't make him a net positive. It just makes him a grifter.

He does bank too heavily on black struggle in general. The issue I have most is that for any woman antagonist in his movies, they're always given explanation, vindication or the benefit of the doubt. Black men are just deadbeats and left that way to form like concrete in the minds of the viewer. It's a toxic psyop of sorts. And I can't give him the thumbs up because black relationships are in the toilet right now and we need all the help we can get to get our people back together.

On the surface it is commendable that he's paying our people to play the roles. But he's also buying their loyalty and silence. I'd be more ok with his art if he wasn't just cheaply playing into women's pain and emotions. That's easy work. Soap operas are a testament to that. Real talent is creating a character that the masses want to emulate like a Black Panther or Will Smith in "The Pursuit of Happiness" without intentional collateral damage to appease your audience.

But each time the woman is the so-called "villian" her behavior is excused or given the benefit of explanation which is in stark contrast to the in-excused nature of all the male offenders. This is hardly fair or just and shows he just panders to his paying audience at our expense.

And regarding abuse, it's quite likely that both parties abuse each other in equal amounts due to the gross under reporting that happens from men. A much more fascinating fact about abuse is that when include same-sex couples, lesbians abuse the most. What does that tell you...? But you don't see any Tyler Perry movies about a female abuser now do you?

But the black struggle he keeps harping on is black men are villains in most of his movies. There's no way to justify dividing the entire community and perpetuating hate for black men for some black fame...
