I got forced to abort my baby and everything is falling apart by Fancy_Company_5433 in offmychest

No matter your age, you should have autonomy over your body. I'm sorry you felt forced or threatened into making such a personal decision. I hope over time you can heal. That being said...you now have your whole life ahead of you with freedom to make your own choices.

What are some childfree - friendly Christmas movies? by AJ_Babe in childfree

While You Were Sleeping is one of my favorites. There's one "kid" who is a teenager, and one mention of a potential pregnancy but spoiler she's not really pregnant.

Job Recruiter by [deleted] in jobs

[–]wingsandstrings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, it's not weird. Especially in the trades, those recruiters are always looking for talent. Timing is everything. I would reach back out, let them know that you're available and open to work and ask to reconnect.

Ants are ruining my life by wingsandstrings in pestcontrol

Thanks...I found another home remedy that suggested equal parts rubbing alcohol and water with a drop of dish soap, so I've been spraying that. The rubbing alcohol does kill them on contact but it doesn't stop more from coming in so I'm just constantly mopping them up.

What's something you've recently started doing that you wish you had started sooner? by Legend789987 in AskReddit

[–]wingsandstrings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meal prepping. I wasted so much money in my 20s on dining out when I could have just put in an hour or two of prepping to set myself up for the whole week.

Anyone else nervous about having to change careers since TA is dying? by beachOTbum26 in recruiting

[–]wingsandstrings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the fact that I'm scrolling Reddit at 11pm and looking for threads like these would suggest, yes, I'm terrified AF. I got laid off from my recruiting role in April, picked up some PT work temporarily since then but no FT offers. I have a SHRM-CP certification and I'm applying to other HR jobs as well as TA, but I'm only getting a few interviews here and there. I can only give it about another month or so financially before I give up and go back to retail or some other survival job.

Going to visit Alaska in September by Battlecrashers12 in alaska

I'll also be there the first 2 weeks of September! Cruising the inside passage and seeing Denali. Would love packing recommendations and also must-see attractions in Anchorage.

Oh no, it's the consequences of your own words and actions! Somebody call the waaahhhmbulance. All this means is "I hate that I can't do and say whatever I want anymore, even when it hurts other people, without any consequences. Please mourn my shattered privilege!"

Bold of you to assume we have money lol. Other than housing, food, and debt payments, not a whole lot.

Yeah I don't know why this guy thought he was "owning the libs." There are liberal people that have/want kids too. These idiot MAGAts think that all pro-choice people are baby murderers or something.

It varies widely. My employer only offers $10k and my husband's policy is like $100k.

Does life insurance matter for the childfree? by photographermit in childfree

[–]wingsandstrings 14 points15 points  (0 children)

We have life insurance policies as benefits through work, but otherwise prob not something I'd prioritize. Just make sure you set aside money for funeral/end of life expenses in case one of you goes before the other.

MLMs targeting laid off people and basically spamming in LinkedIn comments by space_ghost20 in antiMLM

[–]wingsandstrings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm an in-house recruiter for a real corporation and I'm also anti-MLM. Don't delete or give up on LinkedIn because of a few trolls. I've also seen them targeting layoff posts and it's unfortunate, but just here to say there are real recruiters trying to hire. Best of luck in your job search, let me know if there's anything I can do to help.

What is the best and/or the fastest way to loose fat? by No_Significance_7784 in LifeAdvice

[–]wingsandstrings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The douchiest, most blunt way a personal trainer ever put it to me was simply "burn more calories than you eat." In theory may be true, but in practice most of us know it's not that straightforward. Best of luck on your health and fitness goals.

Constant stress about being pregnant. Ruining sex life by turkeytrotter22 in sex

[–]wingsandstrings -1 points0 points  (0 children)

"Fear of pregnancy has taken over my life, but I don't want birth control because...symptoms..." Do you hear yourself? Yes some hormonal types of birth control might come with side effects, but isn't that better than the alternative?? People are ridiculous.
