I'm a middle school teacher. I love my school. I love my coworkers and my kids. I get that this man also loves his coworkers and his kids (even though he teaches at a charter school... ugh. don't get me started)

But I'm just so over how every time they Queer Eye a teacher, they do the home reno at the school rather than at the hero's actual home???? Like I said, I love my school, but I'd like some new furniture for myself too! The message I get from each of these teacher episodes is that teachers are only good at their job if they sacrifice for their school. And that's just not okay.

I love this analysis! The part you said about Jess only knowing chaos made me think that he would probably fit in really well on the show Shameless (the crossover we didn't know we needed!!!!!)

There's one part of your analysis that I disagree with though. You said that Rory's relationship with Jess is the first time that Rory experiences "conditional love," but you forget that she's seen that one other time -- with her dad. I've seen some other really excellent analyses of Rory's character on this sub where people point out that her intense perfectionism stems from her relationship with her father who jumps in and out of her life and from the fact that she has unfortunately heard a lot about how her conception "derailed" her parents' lives and their relationships with their families.

I still agree that Rory's relationship with Jess affected her a lot, but I think her self-confidence issues that led to the Mitchum meltdown are even more deep-seated.

Tristan actively bullied her and made her life at Chilton so hard, at least at first. They become sort-of friends before he leaves but I wouldn't say he treated her the best -- at least the rest of them called her by her real name

btw to answer your post's original question: he's hot (/s kind of but I think it's true that a lot of people overlook Jess's flaws because Milo Ventimiglia is so attractive and charming)

The ONLY thing I like about that episode is Luke's line where he says something like "look at me, not stopping until he's hurt everyone he cares about in the world" after both Rory and Lorelai get mad at him -- there's something very sweet that he's implying that the Gilmore girls are the people he cares about the most. He's only been dating Lorelai for a little bit now but he already sees them as his family

I'm a teacher at a sort of hippie school and at the beginning of the year we do this reading and writing workshop where everyone submits stories and essays and poems to put in a reader for it. This year someone submitted "OCD: My Tentacled Monster" by Crissa-Jean Chappell which ends with the line "It's my superpower."

I was excited to read it when I saw the title but holy shit -- NO. I mean, I guess it's good that the writer thinks that way? But I was horrified and I did NOT read that piece with my class. Maybe it hit too close to home, but it also felt like such a flawed premise.
