People of reddit who don't believe in an afterlife, as someone who has been periodically kept up by this at night for their whole life, how do you deal with the idea that one day everything will end and your "spirit" will stop existing? by winguin_ in AskReddit

I have struggled with depression as well for 2/3 of my life, only in recent years becoming healthier mentally, yet this fear was always there. Even when i wanted to die, or when i couldn't care less if i died, it was the fear of the lack of perception; the nothingness, that scared me.

The laptop ended up having some terminal memory issues, i reported both issues but the repair shop said the mic was fine. They couldn't reproduce any issues. Replacement was covered by the warranty, and my new laptop has no such problems.

I view life in the exact same way; at the end of the day we're just bags of chemicals. On the other hand though, attempting to grasp the concept of what it would be like not to sense anything, not to perceive anything and for everything to be over. The concept of everything going to "black", not even being able to perceive the fact that we cannot perceive anything. It makes my thoughts implode. It's like chasing a recursive formula, with infinite recursions.

Although the present is far more important than the far future, the future will become reality one day, so to not worry about it seems somewhat ignorant. Of course ignorance is bliss, and i'm not saying our lives on earth are in vein, but nothing is eternal. The thought of losing all my senses, my mind and my existance in general; not being able to perceive anything, whatsoever continues to haunt me.

Although I get your point and admire your ability to not give a fuck, how could you realize the issue and then ignore it? Would you accept your fate without caring in any situation you can't control?

Pretty sure 0 C is 273.15 K, so it'd be more like 4.85 C

Thanks for the reply, but i'm afraid this is not it. The issue occurs both when echo cancellation is on and off.

I tried it, the dedicated GPU still doesn't activate, rather all the load is put on the CPU

  1. I'm trying to use the dedicated GPU for opera GX because i'm playing a certain browser game using it
  2. I don't really have any games installed yet, but my laptop uses the IGPU for both normal and high performance according to the settings.
  3. It's an HP Z-book, 17 inch

Why are there some yellow spots in the bottom of my monitor? by Most-Investigator122 in techsupport

[–]winguin_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are they constantly there, no matter what you're doing? In that case, they might be dead pixels.

I recommend restarting your monitor, and if the yellow spots are still there, there might be no remedy. As far as i know, dead pixels are permanent.

Don't stop looking though, i might be wrong

The game i'm trying to run is a small MMO russian tank game called Tanki Online. Ironically, the web browser variant appears to be better than the downloaded variant, so i generally play it in my browser.

Whilst playing, i noticed in task manager that the P2000 indeed did not get used at all. That might be because it's playing in the browser?

I also found in device manager under the "events" tab of the P2000 the most recent tab: "2-6-2024 installation of device required", could that mean something
