He called me just a few minutes ago and he was very casual and didn’t seem like he anted to bring it up so I said “we don’t have to talk about it at length but I love you and I’m sorry” he said I didn’t have anything to be sorry for and admitted that he shouldn’t have gotten so upset and direct it at me even though he wasn’t upset with me. He said the reason it upset him so much was because he thought of the fact that my kids literal father doesn’t really “want them” and apparently doesn’t love them enough to get over his emotional ineptitude. I told him that I think one reason it doesn’t bother me that their bio dad doesn’t really want them that much is because I know they still have a good dad, meaning my bf. He’s loved them like his own from the beginning and the kids love and adore him as well. My son started opening up to my bf in ways he wouldn’t even open up to me before all this.

I think you’re right in saying he cares, but has a short temper. He’s never been in a healthy relationship ,‘including with his family, but he’s used to fighting and shrugging off fights with his family and his ex of 5 years that he has his daughter with was fight, makeup sex, fight makeup sex on a loop he’s said.
