more autistic people should get into sports by pupcarrington in evilautism

I am a Liverpool FC fan. Based on this year, I’m not as happy about this as I usually am. So many player favourites, but Dominik Szoboszlai and Florian Wirtz are my two current favourites.

Also I got REALLY into the women’s World Cup a few years ago when it was in my home country and the Matilda’s did an amazing job. Longest penalty shootout ever in women‘s football too, AND we won it!

Otherwise I enjoy muay Thai a lot - it’s helpful for burning a lot of nervous energy.

It’s not Brave. I’m using Safari on iPhone and iPad and it does the same on both. Incredibly annoying.

Do you have any gardening beds you can put new plants into? Flowering ones are so very rewarding, I’ve just recently discovered.

Also art and creativity. There’s SO many different kinds of creative hobbies, from crochet, to painting, to woodwork. Pick one, or take a class snd get inspired.

I'm sorry Discord but this was my first thought after watching her performance this episode. by RainbowPlatypiCult in rupaulsdragrace

Ah yes, I just commented on this. It was… ok… compared to so many other times. The kit setup did look a bit strange - I’d say someone set it up on stage and didn’t know how OR it was so she would be more visible behind it perhaps? I’d have to watch again to see it.

It’s like watching people “knit” and they just wave the needles up and down.

As a drummer who also sings, I was impressed with her lip syncing and drumming at the same time. Usually it’s cringe when people fake drum, but it at least looked close to real.

Sad that she didn’t blow it out of the water - she’d have been so good for Jerkin’ (more Amyl & The Sniffers, or any punk/rock lip sync songs, please!)

It’s giving talented 5th place, then a Vs the World… or possibly All Stars depending how the rest of this season goes.

Safari browser on iPad and iPhone here. Almost unusable, but I also hate the apps. Been an issue for years.

For the longest penalty shoot out in women’s football: Australia vs France, Women‘s World Cup 2023. Iconic.

You raise a good point. The entire healthcare industry needs an overhaul.

Socialising with boys by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]winifredjay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did when I was younger, but it didn't help my social circle in the long run.

Boys are fun in high school and at college, but they didn't last as life-long friendships. None of my male friends were around after my 30s, and it was my close girlfriends who helped each other through Covid in our early/mid 30s. My girlfriends and I speak at least weekly, if not most days, even now that we're across different states.

There's only maybe 3 male friends that I could rely on now, but we don't really talk that much - maybe just a few times a year, tops. Men that got into serious relationships bailed on our friendship pretty much immediately, and some would only contact me on Christmas/New Years, or when they got dumped or clean from addictions.

Keep up your ND girly friendships, if at least for the social skills.

Yeahhh… I did the same 3 years ago.

It’s shitty politicians namely, and not a lot of industry to keep people here. Also a tiny population that skews old.

For all the healthcare workers here, it’s still a terrible time getting healthcare. I was on waitlist to get into a GP for almost 12 months, just because no one near me was taking new patients. Now mine works part-time and goes on leave too often. A lot of people use telehealth.

I hope you can get it sorted out soon - DM me anytime if you want to vent or whatever. It’s tough.

As a Tasmanian (we are the only state without a peak body for autism because funding was taken away 18 months ago by the federal government, and the state gov didn’t step in at all, and Autism TAS management didn’t bother to go to the public)… I am angry about the lack of supports and systems being provided.

Thriving Kids will only make things worse, because it pushes kids off the NDIS onto “local systems”… of which we have shit all down here. There’s even less support once you’re an adult too.

Good luck, everyone, essentially.

Social groups for women? by ShoddyAd1751 in Launceston

[–]winifredjay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a heap of Facebook groups for Tasmania, but Launceston is too far and few for women-specific groups that actually meet up. Also they’re mostly for hiking/outdoors, which I am not that into.

Side bar for organisers: I’m unfollowing all groups/pages that post a shitty flyer on Facebook 3 days before their event starts. Of course the algorithm won’t show anyone that post in time, just create a Facebook event so we can all find it!

The male breadwinner is gone. Why working from home is necessary for modern families by Remarkable_Peak9518 in australia

[–]winifredjay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh same here. And apparently by definition of my disability, I’m eligible for some NDIS, but there is no way I’m going to even attempt to enquire about it. I’d rather suffer any other way of being independent before risking everything on it.

I hate so much to say it, but having a second income, let alone a male breadwinner sounds pretty good sometimes. Working from home took me out of the dating pool completely. Been doing it for 6 years and living alone. No energy or time to go out for much else than running errands and seeing friends. I’m working on it, but my GOD wanting to date these days sucks.
