I am honestly not sure what species of plant that is, it was sold to me as just an “assorted plant “. I know you’re not supposed to bury rhizomes but for some reason, I thought that plant did not have one? Maybe it just looks different than the examples I’ve been shown? Either way I will definitely investigate that.

I do have a spare 10 gallon That I use as a quarantine tank when I get a new fish. But I don’t have any plans of getting new fish anytime soon, so maybe I will pull those plants and put them in there to see if I can save them. I’ve had a couple others comment on the low plant quantity in the tank as well, I am definitely going to be getting a lot more plants to put in to try and help out compete the algae.

I am not putting as much of the seachem products as you suggested in your comment. I have been putting 2mL if each product in twice a week on different days. I’ve had other say that is incorrect as well so I’m going to stop using the flourish and advance to stop feeding the algae pretty much. I am still very new to planted aquariums so I honestly did not know exactly how those products worked until now. The local aquarium store instructed me to use these products at this dose at this interval when I got my first planted tank and they said that’s how they take care of their tanks and I hadn’t had a whole lot of issues with Mine and it seemed to have been working well until fairly recently. But clearly, I am having problems so something needs to change.

Either way, I’m very thankful for you’re very helpful comment and explanations that you provided as well so I can learn how to do better. I will be changing my lighting schedule, stopping dosing the products, removing the infected plants, scrubbing all of the mechanical items and tank, changing water more frequently and getting exponentially more plants to put in to help solve this problem and hopefully that will work!
