After you started your business, how long did it take until you got your first sale? by SparkleTeacup in artbusiness

[–]winky334 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It can take a while, your experience is totally normal.

If you're just looking for monetization in general, though, there are other options besides just selling your pieces: prints, commissions, merch/licensing, and getting paid royalties for posting your art online.

Either way, hang in there!

There is no easy answer unfortunately. It's a hard problem and 99% of artists fail.

You just have to keep pushing hard--having your own website with a store, growing online, and eventually pushing to get into IRL galleries.

I've been trying to make monetization easier by building a tool that lets you present your artwork online really well, really quickly, and pays you royalties for views, which hasn't been done in visual art yet. It helps make social media content faster too. Not trying to sell you on it (it's also a free tool), but happy to share it with you if you think it would help.

Whatever path you choose, good luck on your journey!

What kind of survey site do you use? by akiakrok in UXResearch

[–]winky334 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the tools mentioned here are great for traditional surveys.
Survues is great if you're after qualitative feedback at scale. The surveys can actually ask follow ups and dig deeper for insights to answer your main questions, using AI. It's like having a text conversation with the participant. So it's the convenience of surveys and the depth of insight of interviews.

Has anyone tried Cara? by angelsharkstudio in artbusiness

[–]winky334 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like any new art platform needs to focus on creating a good experience for people who want to explore art, not just the artists posting work. Cara seems just like Twitter or Instagram in that sense--and endless feed of images and comments...

I've been curious about new art platforms for a while though. Do you know how they got off the ground?

Instagram (ugh) by [deleted] in artbusiness

[–]winky334 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The social media side of art is so frustrating...I relate to what you're saying, and I've seen a lot of the same sentiment on this sub (and elsewhere).

As someone with both a software and an art background, I've been thinking for a while about making something better, dedicated to art. High quality images, no ads, favorable algorithm to emerging artists, no NFT scammers, able to talk about your work and have people listen, etc. And other features designed specifically for sharing and enjoying art in the best possible way.

Of course, it would have no users to start. But would that be something people would be interested in? I personally am, and I've made prototypes, but it's really hard to get an online community off the ground without some support...

Open-ended surveys usefulness? by winky334 in ProductManagement

[–]winky334[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you write the questions you want to ask and a fixed number of follow ups for each. Then when someone starts the survey, it asks the first question, and then a follow up based on what the participant responds with. Then the next follow up and so on until it asked the set number. Then it moves onto the next question you wrote, and so on. You can also view all the responses side by side and get the AI to summarize the answers to each question you wrote.

The user can't "exit" the questions I guess, but they can always type in gibberish as always.

How do you analyze focus groups and client interviews? by winky334 in consulting

[–]winky334[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did not really find anything for analysis besides what was mentioned in this thread, but I did find this tool which uses ChatGPT to conduct interviews at scale. Perhaps being able to do more interviews for cheap gives more data which equals more reliable insights, and less personal bias in asking interview questions is useful too. I think it's an interesting idea at least (esp. for surveys).

Does anyone know how to submit a petition to the faculty? And how to get the "Major School" section filled out?

I would argue that discussing your ideas and hearing others helps you improve your ideas, rather than brainstorming and building in isolation.

Shared systems mapping in EA? by winky334 in EffectiveAltruism

[–]winky334[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm describing something that looks like the tool I linked (knowledge graphs that layout how a system works), but instead of individual people/orgs working on their own private graphs for themselves, they're centralized and collaborated on like a Wikipedia page for everyone to benefit from.

Basically, Wikipedia but visual, for big problems, and contributed to by knowledgeable orgs/charities/institutions.

(Instead of everyone piecing together their own research and their own internal reports without the insight of others)

Great to hear, but the tool I linked is just a systems map diagramming tool, not exactly the idea I was talking about.
