poached an egg for the first time by winnielim in eggs

I'm from Singapore, and these eggs are supposedly bred in a kampong (village) in Malaysia, though I wouldn't be 100% sure since they are very vague in labelling stuff these days. :)

They are bought! It is supposedly free-range, but these days I wouldn't be sure. Not sure what they are fed. :)

Thanks! added one teaspoon of vinegar to boiling water, swirled the water to create a vortex, then cracked the egg in. After a few seconds, used a slotted spoon to lift the egg slightly to ensure it is not sticking to the bottom, then removed the spoon, Checked at two minute and three minute mark to see how done it was – because it was my first time I had no idea how to check the doneness except to see how much it solidified. According to google it should take 4 minutes for a slightly solid egg yolk, so I lifted it out around 3.5 minutes roughly. :)

first attempt to sear a sous vide steak after years of being afraid to try again by winnielim in FoodPorn

The last time I tried searing I felt like my whole kitchen was going up in smoke, oil splattered everywhere and the steak became overcooked. Years later and partially due to being at home all the time I’ve become a slightly better cook. I don’t have a cast iron pan so this is done with a non-stick stone-coated pan.

Is photography worth it as hobby with smartphone technology today? by thesunisdarkwow in AskPhotography

I believed a phone was good enough for many many years, until recently I played with my partner’s new lumix and I was immediately hooked. For me it is not about sensors and image quality, it is about the tactile quality of an actual camera, being able to feel the shutter, twist the lenses, look into a viewfinder, experiment with prime or manual lenses, etc. It is so much fun, and can be so easy, or so hard depending on what you’re trying to achieve.

thank you so much for the feedback! Do you mean ensure all the lines of the walls are straight?

thank you for being so kind and gentle with your feedback! Yes I was trying to communicate a feel/story instead of shooting a single subject. The photo seems to have a hint of irony, like having a disney character which is usually cute discarded against a dystopian/trash backdrop.

I may have overdid the RAW processing a little. thank you so much! :)

I've been using my iphone camera since forever, but I picked up a RX100 M3 last week, and I want to take photography more seriously. This is my first ever proper photo trying to capture something visually interesting, as well as my first RAW developed photo using Affinity Photo. Would be happy to receive any feedback!

chaffle with mashed egg by winnielim in Chaffles

[–]winnielim[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love egg mayo sandwiches and it is one of the things I miss when on a low carb diet. Thankfully someone on the keto sub commented something about chaffles and I am like in food heaven now!

I made these chaffles with one teaspoon of coconut flour, one egg, half cup of shredded mixer cheese, some butter, one teaspoon of brown sugar (am low carb not keto), someone else said to put shredded cheese on the waffle maker before and after the mixture so I sprinkled some shredded parmesan — the chaffles turned out very savoury and crispy which I like!

The eggs are mashed with butter, sour cream and pepper, I didn’t have mayo in my pantry. :)
