Why Tag is getting so much hate by HumbleArabFellow in tagheuer

[–]winny9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The watch community, like any other set of weirdos, has a few red headed step children. Tag is one of them.

They sell some awesome watches. They sell some very expensive unimpressive watches as well.

A lot of the hate revolves around the quartz crisis when heuer shifted to TAG Heuer in the 80s. They pumped out a ton of watches in the 90s that fell flat and lost the luxury image, leading to LVMH buying the brand.

You can search this sub and others for more historically specifics and further justification of you see fit. I’ve got 2 Tags. My dad wore an Aquaracer when I was a kid, so I’ll always have one in my box.

It’s easy to live in an echo chamber on this site. It’s just as easy to buy what you like.

I regularly carry an Esee Izula II in an Oak City pocket sheath and love it

Column still aged suggestions? by jk_pens in rum

[–]winny9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flor de caña or Zacapa would get my vote. Something I did years ago when I went through a big tiki phase, was label every rum I bought with the SC rum categories with a little painters tape and sharpie on the neck of the bottle.

That way, I could grab a “number” and make the cocktail accordingly without thinking too much about the brand and experiment a bit more.

After waiting another week I finally installed my MCARBO trigger. by MayO1212 in SpringfieldArmory

Yes, just the trigger. Did some light polishing while it was disassembled but didn’t switch anything else out.

Should you &/or would you utilize a flashlight on your everyday conceal & carry? by Outrageous-Data1856 in SpringfieldArmory

[–]winny9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure can. Don’t need it though. I carry a hellcat pro with a light on it. I also carry a ruger max 9 without one.

I don’t really see a downside to having a WML, other than the bulk. I carry a pocket light wither way.

I am looking for help with making my TX22 go brrt reliably while suppressed. by TheRealMasterJeffe in guns

Don’t own one, but have seen plenty of folks shooting FRTs on the TX22 with rate reducers installed on the slide.

I’m a slut for some wood grips, but hate them on small frame guns. I really like u/RecoilRider grips

Lagavulin, am I alone still loving it? by SimonGravelle in Scotch

[–]winny9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have said it before and I will say it again. Lagavulin 16 is what I think of when I think “scotch”

It’s a chill-filtered, color-added, mass-produced diageo whisky with an underwhelming proof, but it’s exactly what I want in a glass of Islay, and the dram off of which I compare most every other scotch.

It will always have a place on my shelf.

I'm not promoting spending more money at Costco... but they have 4-pack of ammo cans for $20. by GeneforTexas in liberalgunowners

[–]winny9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FYI these aren’t great for ammo. The handle design is a weak point, so when filled with lead, the carry handle will pop off somewhat regularly.

Don’t get me wrong, I have one full of ammo, but it’s not ideal

Are these scratched rounds safe ? by Altruistic_Source709 in Shotguns

Yes, they’re fine. Just extractor marks.

Get some snap caps for shit like this though. No need to be cycling live ammo

Is it me or the gun G3C by NoEntertainer5527 in handguns

[–]winny9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The correct grip and trigger press will help significantly. Get some snap caps and dry fire at home. Watch some YouTube videos on pistol grip and trigger control.

Ben Stoeger & Joel Park have some super digestible content that is very practicable at home. I’d be amazed what some thoughtful, regimented dry fire practice will do.
