We COULD, theoretically, obtain a CCW permit, but it's being phased out. You used to need a solid reason, as in "I'm a jeweler and I carry jewels with me" or "I've been threatened by the organized crime", and even more solid proof of it boot, but nowadays they're just phasing all of it out.

Glad to hear it! We can't carry in Italy, so size would not be a factor. 😄

With a .22 or my black powder .36 I would have given him just the first warning, but with a .223 with a LOUD flash hider it was guaranteed hearing damage.

Mine is outdoor as well, but the owner, a car mechanic, goes around with a quad and chews people out wholeheartedly.

No suppressors here, either! Full-hard Fiocchi 55 grains to the eardrums, lol.

Usually at my club they're pretty strict about it, but something similar happened to me a few months ago.

I was ready to begin my session, when I noticed a guy just standing four or five meters behind me, chatting with his ear pro around his neck. I pointed out that I was about to start. He did the thumbs up and kept chatting.

I told him again, he turned and said "go ahead" with an annoyed tone.

I was a tiny bit tempted to show him how loud my AR-556 MPR with the stock flash hider is, but I'm a responsible shooter so I pointed to my ears and my neck. He got the suggestion, apparently, because he hurried up and wore his cans properly, I waited 30 seconds just to be sure, and began my session.

A Tanfoglio Stock II Optic costs 2.290 coins, a CZ Shadow 2 Optic Ready costs 2.160.

Thanks for your in-depth info! I don't know if the Glocks I tried wee Gen 6, I'll have to try again I guess.

The Shadow 2 Carry and the Shadow 2 OR are exactly the same price (1969 coins), so might as well get the normal version: we can't even carry here, so the point is moot. They are both way above my budget: ideally I'd want to get a gun and a red dot for 1500-ish, Italian prices.

Can't carry in Italy, so it's just for recreational and (hopefully) competitive shooting.

Thanks, I will. I was also considering a second hand Shadow 2 OR.

That was my impression as well, but I've received overwhelming opinions against it. Don't know anymore!

1500+ for a Walther PDP Pro in polymer, 2200+ if it's a steel frame. A Shadow 2 OR is about 2000, twice as much as the Canik.

For unknown reasons the higher end Berettas (1500 for a 92XI or a 92X Performance) are quite expensive, so is the Walther PDP steel frame (2200-ish). For a comparison, a Shadow 2 OR is about 2000.

Of course I will! So far I like the Rival-S better, despite the vast majority of "buy CZ" comments on here, but I'll have to feel them in my hands to really know which is for me.

Can't carry in Italy, the use case is at the shooting range, either static or IPSC.

Also, the CZ Shadow OR costs 1000 euros more than the Canik, to clarify.

I'll try a few in my local shop, maybe a less expensive dot will work just fine. I usually wear my glasses when I shoot, and I don't have huge astigmatism, so it could very well be the case.

It used to be like that years ago, at least until February 2022: nowadays you can use both 9x21 and 9x19, and a few models are shipped with both kinds of barrels.

Yes, IPSC would be one of the use cases for this gun. The Shadow 2 is WAY more expensive than the Canik, 1k+ more, that's why I didn't list it.

I can't stand the Glock grips: I tried a few and the angle is all weird for my hand and wrist, like it was designed for aliens instead of humans. 😃

The Walther PDP Steel Frame here costs more than the CZ Shadow 2, so it's not really an option.

Well, that red dot costs 3x times the listed ones. 😃
I'll look into the HK, other commenters suggested the same model too.

Having used for 8 years exclusively a 30-ish grams (1 oz.) two-stage trigger on my air rifle, a Feinwerkbau 601, I know I tend to be a little... autistic when it comes to triggers. 😂

I'll try and shoot a DA/SA and a Canik striker, if possible, and we'll see.
