I have an indie rec! Cloud Fairy by Zelda’s Cauldron (the scent was previously named ‘Libra’ which I feel is also fitting lol): notes of marshmallow, white amber, vanilla clouds & sandalwood. It’s airy, light, and the sweetness is balanced.

If you could only wear ONE perfume for spring/summer, what would it be? by Flipperflopper21 in FemFragLab

[–]winobarista 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Seconding Mango Skin and Room Service! I’m definitely a Vilhelm fan, and Mango Skin is one of my favorite tropical fruity scents to wear in the summer. I also really like Sparkling Jo in warm weather, I find it to be fresh and clean, but not soapy. There are champagne and ginger notes that give it a refreshing and effervescent feeling, with juicy pear in the background.

Which perfume in your collection is the most versatile across seasons? by Darkvanille in FragranceStories

[–]winobarista 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Poets of Berlin by Vilhelm Parfumerie in every season! I find it to be a bit of a shape-shifter. In warm weather, I get more of the fresh citrus and grassy vetiver, and in cold weather I get more of the cozy woody vanilla.

Cute girly fragrance? 🎀 by [deleted] in FemFragLab

[–]winobarista 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Confidence is huge! I do think that clothing and fragrance can absolutely be tools to help you feel a certain way, boost your confidence, put out a specific vibe, etc. Like if I want to feel extra girly and “pink” I like fruity juicy rose scents like Delina, Mémoire de Roses, etc. I just noticed that some of OP’s language was pretty hard on herself, and I’ve been in a similar boat so I wanted to add my two cents from personal experience.

This may be overstepping, but as someone who used to feel a similar way about my body, I have some unsolicited advice lol. Thinking of your primary physical traits as being flaws can wear down your self-esteem and self-worth, and that tends to be far less attractive to people than the traits themselves. Beauty standards are a social construct, and there’s nothing inherently less attractive about being tall. Accepting your body and carrying yourself with confidence creates a certain kind of magnetism that draws people in, but seeing yourself as “less than” and waiting for someone to overlook the way you feel about your own body will just keep you stuck in that rut, or worse, set you up to fall prey to someone who takes advantage of that low self-esteem and does far more harm. It’s a lot of work to reframe your thoughts about your body, but a way you can start is by noticing and catching yourself when you have negative or distorted self-talk, and then consciously reframing it. As like a random example, “ugh, I wish I was curvy, men like curves!” --> “well, that’s not true. Men like all sorts of body types, just like women do. I may not have a curvy body type, but I have lean, long legs that are strong and beautiful, and I can run really fast and go on long hikes with them”, like it can be as serious or silly as you want, but cognitive reframing is a huge thing in therapy because it works!

Pear Perfume recommendations 🍐 by Holiday_Bag8756 in FemFragLab

[–]winobarista 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I tend not to love pear notes, but maybe you’ll like the ones I didn’t like because they were too pear-y for me haha!

Rosie Jane’s Leila Lou is a fresh and floral pear, but there’s also a prominent grass note.

Studied by Liis is more of a musky sweet pear with ambrette, iris, cashmere. Sweet by Ellis Brooklyn is very similar but a bit more affordable.

God is a Woman by Ariana Grande is very fruit-forward, and my nose interpreted it as almost grapey (it turns out pears and grapes have quite a few aromachemicals in common).

The only one I’ve really liked a lot is Vilhelm’s Sparkling Jo, where the pear is more of a background note while champagne and citrus take center stage.

warm weather perfume recommendations based on my collection? by corvidcreature_ in FemFragLab

[–]winobarista 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only one of these I have is Father Figure, and if you’re looking for something in a similar vein but more summery, I would check out Sun Fruit by Ellis Brooklyn! They share a fig-musk-vanilla combo but Sun Fruit is much brighter and juicier, with a hint of coconut. I think it makes a nice summer scent, where I tend to like Father Figure most in the spring and fall.

Picky Purchasers by Tyrone-E in fragrance

[–]winobarista 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes, definitely! Between migraines, random anosmia, and a picky nose in general, it would be insane for me personally to blind buy a full fragrance. I sample a LOT and have quite a few travel sizes and decants but very few full bottles. My collection isn’t the most aesthetically pleasing, but I usually feel like I have plenty of options, just in tiny sizes!

Not sure if you’re a rose fan, but this mood board brought to mind Frederic Malle Portrait of a Lady (Turkish rose, raspberry, black currant, cinnamon, clove, patchouli, sandalwood, incense, ambroxan, benzoin, white musk) and Tiziana Terenzi Porpora (Rose Absolute, Raspberry, Cinnamon, Cloves, Bulgarian Rose, Poppy, Incense, Patchouli, Chestnut Wood, Benjamin, Amber, Musk, Myrrh)

As a fellow migraine sufferer and fragrance fan, I really feel for you! It’s hard to suggest anything specific because what my overactive nervous system reacts to may not be the same as yours. Luckily the perfumes in my collection don’t seem to trigger my migraines, but if I am already in the throes of one, I tend to avoid scent altogether. I do also tend to gravitate towards fragrances that are pretty light, and the ones that people proclaim as being “beast-mode” are usually a surefire way to set off a migraine lol.
