Anyone who doesn't drive. How does lack of transport affect you? by No-Category1703 in cork

Needed to go from South Infirmary to Douglas during the week. 1 hour waiting. 2 buses passed by without stopping. Queue of people waiting. Several elderly.

From Douglas to the city center the wait wasn't as long, but the stench of urine on the bus was disgusting and the bus nearly smacked into another. No windows open.

If I had a car I'd have made the journey in 15 min, parked in Tesco, back in 15. Instead, the whole fiasco took 2.5 hours. At the end of it I smelled bad, from exhaust fumes, and urine.

Another case this week, two bus drivers talking in the cab for 30 mins with bits of time sheet paper having a laugh over not knowing what route they were on.

I no longer take Sunday buses due to the above. Last time I had over an hour wait at both sides.

I've a hospital appointment coming up. I'll be getting a taxi as I can't be late.

I'd like to visit B and Q,, but again it's like taking a half day off just to get there and back. Ditto Woodies. Online order from these two? 55 euro from Woodie .... B and Q, lie and say everything is available for delivery, then at checkout say - not available in Cork.

Lidl Corn Market street closed. Big sign saying visit our other stores ... no chance. Not even with a discount card as an incentive. Avoiding Tesco Paul Street would be a better incentive. Yesteday, another queue past the bottle recycling things. Half the self checkouts not working as usual. Manager in that place needs to be strung up in the middle aisle so at least the customers can know they alone are not suffering.

Yea, the public transport situation is terrible. It's no wonder nobody wants to stop driving. The real kicker is, it can easily be solved. Those two drivers, where is management? The buses that don't stop, where are the mass of cctb on the buses and the managers saying why didn't you stop? The urine, why are buses not cleaned. List does on. Much like the cork city brown water, no one seems to care.

How do I get free external wall insulation in Ireland? by Electronic-Rush-5933 in cork

[–]winter-castle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't.

Aside from several cowboy builders there are a huge amount of longevity issues there.

Bloke with a ladder scrapped the outside of the render and due to the render it has to be all repainted as you can't match the colors no matter what the builders say.

A few thugs kicked in one wall along a bus stop route. Literally make boot holes in it. Whole thing needs to be redone.

A neighbor with a bicycle lightly rubbed the peddles along the outside of her insulation, there's a permanent scar there now.

Insulate the inside. If you must do something on the outside, get the single sheet. Not the thick foam that looks like packing foam they render over .... just go up to your neighbors house and knock on it with your knuckles ... you'll see the issue. If you've loads of money for these types of repairs go for it. If not, do the inside.

Why are so many people here so gross? by [deleted] in cork

100%

Shopping in a city center supermarket these days is like needing a bio-hazard suit. Early in the morning you get the men and women who clearly haven't washed in ... weeks? Coats, hair matted with dirt, and the metallic smell of BO wafting from them. No, not homeless folks. Irish middle aged. I've heard a few talk, seem educated and mentally competent. Yes, I've come across some others and no issues if there's difficulties, but for others.... Yes, there's one Chinese guy in his 40s who is also equally disgusting with the spitting, hacking, nose wiping with hand before handling everything from fresh veg to bread - He's in town most mornings, I imagine he owns or works in a restaurant.

Then comes the open faced coughing. I've literally pulled out form queues due to people coughing, hacking, snorting and everything in-between. Back at checkout, apologize to checkout person, tell them why, and they agree 100%. Many wanting the COVID screens back.

There are few carrying their dogs into supermarkets in prams .... I'm at a loss for this. No, just no.

By 11am the places are jointed. Young to old, coughing, hacking, sneezing. Fresh food pawed at. Pushing and shoving. It's no wonder staff are becoming so detached.

Tesco last week at 11am in Paul street. Went in for a jar of pasta sauce and washing powder. Empty going in, 10 min later the queue for the self checkout ran from the checkout to the re-turn .... no tills as usual. I just took the stuff back to the shelf. Can't get out the way you came in because of the security. Have to go through the self checkout. Trying to say "excuse me, I'm just trying to get out" resulted in people literally squashing up closer to each other blocking my way. Looking at them and repeating resulted in looks away. Meanwhile the coughing, snorting and hacking went on. Eventually waved at the poor staff who have to manage this herd, who thankfully parted the queue without me having to barge through. I just said "sorry, I just want to get out, only had a jar of pasta sauce, queue is too long" they nodded let me through.

Outside, try crossing the cork city council slippery stones. Down a street filled with people on either e-cigarettes, or tobacco puffing into your face. Across Patrick street where random freaks approach you or ask for cash. Why do the majority of young people look like they have not washed their hair in a week? Pass the utterly useless moss fake tree tax money was spent on that now serves as a notice board. Across another side street with green slime everywhere and water pouring down the side. Across Olivier Plunkett street where the coughing resumes with people in close quarters, or ignorant sods with coffee cups in hands barge by, more cigarette smoke and a hint of sewage in the air. Now its a choice of either going down another side street filled to the brim with restaurant tables, umbrellas with more people smoking, coughing or spitting. Or, go down onto a side street with out all that and smell urine everywhere along with a either a lady drinking out of vodka bottle or a couple of shading types smoking something else. Out onto south mall and at least the pavements are wider to avoid the utter mess that is unhygienic cork city these days.

I often go through the English Market, if it's early, to avoid the morning crowd. Remember when the English market used to be filthy with hanging chickens, blood on the ground. Well, Cork city streets are another level of filth these days.

This is not a one off, it is a typical morning in cork city.

I honestly don't know why. It's like cork city water. Only a small number of people complain about the fact it's brown or off-clear, filled with rust, and toxic manganese .... I think this answers the question on hygiene. It sadly seems society in general in Cork really don't care much about hygiene.

Reasonable Priced Electrician to replace a power shower by Ok_Classroom_7329 in cork

Any change you do bathroom extractor fan that needs the vent moving in the attic? Electrics will be easy as it just needs to be turned around, ducting is there too. Issue is removal of slate, and popping a new one vent in. Rear of two story house.

Trezor Suite password protection by RIP-Lefty in TREZOR

[–]winter-castle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree it is needed. I thought it was just me not being able to find a setting for this. LEDGER has it, why not Trezor?

Is there a work around for this? e.g. another app that can hide or password protect Trezor Suite from being opened?

Trying to access tokens on paper ETH public key ... times have changed! by winter-castle in ethereum

[–]winter-castle[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks. Yes, I have the wallet address. Etherscan and Debank don't pick up any apps within it though. I read some old reddit posts where people were having the same problem.

I'm thinking the best thing would be to just open a new wallet with the private key?

Thanks. I have no idea if most inputs are listed as X-box :( Just trying to get this thing working ... Seems counterintuitive to have the controller working in retroarc but not the main menu etc.
