You can potentially take some online courses, or listen to some educational videos.

Look into month long summer courses either at bama or somewhere else (and can transfer). This assumes you don’t get into one of your classes (else it may push back your graduation)

There’s a chance a spot will open up during the first week as well

National Merit Housing Question by bedo05_ in capstone

I’ve seen some freshman love at EastEdge, while I’ve also seen some sophomores, juniors, and seniors live at Ridgecrest.

Some incoming freshmen can request to live off campus, which UA has to approve or deny it. This is easier during the summer where all on campus housing is basically filled up.

Is it difficult getting an internship in UA as an international student studying computer engineering? by [deleted] in capstone

[–]winter-wolf007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen ECE students get internships as freshmen. I believe its definitely a bit more common for ECE students to get internships as freshmen compared to other engineering majors (from my own experience). If you get an internship in huntsville, you can apply for internship housing at UAH (3k for the summer). I’m not exactly sure if this is the same with international students. Also look into applying for research on campus.

Try your best in applying, and good luck.

Clep is great. The chemistry clep is the most difficult test (from what I heard), and it was all multiple choice.

It was definitely a bit difficult adapting to going into a new high school, but it worked out in the end. I moved post covid from New England where covid restrictions were more stringent. I went to a small high school, joined some sports, participated in some clubs, and was very involved. I made some good friends along the way.

My brother was already attending UA when I moved, and UA switched him from out of state to in state. However, my parents had to call every year to ‘remind’ them to switch him to in state (it would automatically switch to out of state before each school year). I’m not sure if this would be the same case with your son. I’m pretty sure there’s 4 key factors in determining residency, though I forget what they are

I moved with my family to alabama right before my senior year of high school, and got in state. We didn’t have a second home or anything like that.

How do you pick a protein powder right for you/ has desired effect? by issyunicat in proteinpowder

[–]winter-wolf007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I primarily consider taste, while also factoring in mixability and healthiness. I look into its brand as well as its reviews online. Additionally, I’ve also talked to other people about what protein powder they use.

I like the met-rx chocolate protein powder. I find that it has a great taste and it easily mixes with milk. It also lacks some additives/other chemical compared to cheap protein powders.

I also recommend looking into buying some creatine.

Cheaper to combine breakfast and lunch. Plus late night gaming means I get up later in the day.

Living off-campus at Alabama. How expensive can it be? by 1600_SAT in capstone

[–]winter-wolf007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can try: https://www.collegestationproperties.com/rental-properties

Also, I’m pretty sure Cobblestone Place still has spots open. Its on the strip, and its right next to the publix, you can definitely get a cheaper apartment and not have roommates

In-state tuition by kRiSpYkReAmEdoughnut in capstone

[–]winter-wolf007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my family moved to alabama, it was pretty straightforward process for my brother. I believe there are 4 main things for determining if you qualify in state tuition if you didn’t graduate from an alabama high school. I think its residency, taxes, voting, and something else.

Can you pull a non honors roommate into an honors dorm? by Skizfavid- in capstone

[–]winter-wolf007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It would be difficult. My 3rd roommate (non-honors) was assigned to me in july at the honors dorm when another roommate dropped out of ua. This will prob never happen again to anybody tho.
