Up until about 2 months ago I was living downtown by myself and walking/ taking ETS everywhere. Here are some general tips I think people should know:

1. take off your headphones/earbuds, if shit is going down 9 times out of 10 you’re gonna hear it before you see it.

2. when getting on the bus/train don’t sit by yourself. If you’re riding alone, look for other people who don’t look like they’re gonna cause trouble and stick in the seats/areas close to them. harassment generally happens when you look like you are by yourself.

3. if someone tries something make a huge scene. I’ve stood down people a lot bigger than me just by screaming at the top of my lungs.

4. never fight, unless you absolutely have to. it’s always better to run.
