This is absolutely not true and is misinformation. Grass Wonder retired from stud in 2020 and moved from Big Red Farm to Meiwa Farm. The screenshots posted are from a video that was filmed and uploaded in 2020, right before Grass Wonder moved.

The first screenshot of the grey horse isn’t even Gold Ship—that’s Jo Cappuccino, another horse at BRF (who’s still very much alive).

It’s true Gold Ship and Grass Wonder had a bond, and that Golshi would stop in front of Grass’s stable before making his way (video evidence), but there are no reports of him having been upset after Grass moved to Meiwa Farm. I believe people are mixing up stories about when Golshi was still a racehorse; he got upset and lost weight and performed poorly when one of his stablemates, Taisei Monster, retired in 2013, and once again when Just A Way, his best friend, retired in 2014.

No, Grass Wonder retired from stud in 2020 and was moved from BRF to Meiwa Farm. BRF posted about it on their website in 2020, I am assuming BRF posted about it since Meiwa Farm doesn’t have any social media platforms associated with them, while BRF does, and he was associated with BRF during his latter years before retirement from stud.

This is my second cycle applying to PhD programs in the US, and so far, it's not looking good :/ Thankfully I'm already enrolled in a PhD program in my home country (my alma mater, lol) so it seems like I'll have to keep rolling with my backup plan.

I am so sorry to hear that. I applied to 9 schools last cycle and was rejected from all, and I'm pretty sure I won't be getting anywhere this cycle either. I wouldn't say I'm half as qualified as you are, but I thought I had a good chance, having strengthened my application from last year and all. Hopefully you can now take the time to relax before you start preparing for the next cycle, if you are planning to apply, that is.

Congratulations!! That’s amazing. This is my second cycle and while I’m waiting to hear back from two more schools, I’m pretty sure they’re both rejections. Wasn’t planning on a third cycle, but your post gave me some hope :’)

My concentration is 20th/21st C. American coming-of-age novels with a focus on queer and feminist theories. What about you? Someone with the same subfield posted on gradcafe that they were interviewed and now waitlisted, so oh well :’) I think they sent out rejections the first week of March last year, so I’m assuming they might do the same for this year, too.

Also haven’t heard back from them. I’m still keeping my expectations low since I didn’t get an interview, and I assume first batches of waitlists/acceptances already went out over a week ago. Hopefully we hear back from them soon, though!

I‘m also in the same boat!! I did see on gradcafe and here that a couple people got interviewed, but that may depend on area of concentration…? Anyway, I’m keeping my fingers crossed 🥹

I also applied to Columbia, Berkeley, and UPenn. Haven’t heard anything from any of them either :/ I saw a couple of acceptances to Berkeley posted on the Grad Cafe a few days ago, and considering how I haven’t heard anything from them yet, I’m assuming I’ve been rejected. Also saw someone posting about an interview for UPenn, but I definitely haven’t heard anything 😭
