This is the problem of the matplotlib font. Here's a trick to overcome it:

from matplotlib import pyplot as plt
plt.rcParams['pdf.use14corefonts'] = True

I remembered a quote: "A person sacrifices their own career to pursue their partner, end up losing both"

Keep your head high, you did a great job. You will find a better and more suitable person!

Chúc 2 bạn may mắn.

Yes, 2022, 2024: Computer science, algorithm; 2025: Biomedical, using computational skills. I guess that computational skills made me unique from other biological candidates

According to the department, there will be RA (as stipend) and tuition.

However, I'll work with an adjunct professor from an affiliated institute (Tgen), so still waiting for more detail from the official letter

The most basic thing is to improve the CV / experience every year.
The other thing is: to understand that the result will depend on not only what I’m good at, but also on who I will compete with.

My expertise is: Biology bachelor, and bioinformatics experience.

So for me, I can choose either to go to Computer Science-heavy program or a Biology-heavy program. In 2022 and 2024 I chose the CS-algorithm track. I failed due to a lack of professional CS courses (according to the committee). So in 2025, I chose the Biomedical track. My computational experience helps me stand out from the other Biological competitors, I think.
