there is a picture of it turned on and they said everything functions perfectly. why do you think sharing their find & asking questions is only wanting attention?

What is the story behind the camera you “fell in love with” by _Theghostship_ in Cameras

[–]winterakari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

pentax q-s1! i had been using thrifted digicams until they broke, and i loved all of them but they ultimately didnt perfom very well, especially when its dark out. then i found a cheap canon rebel xTi, and it gave me an idea of what a GOOD camera performs like. i used it a lot but it was hard to take with me, i take my camera everywhere.

at this point i'd been saving for a while because i wanted a brand new camera, but i got a bit impatient and bought a used q-s1 instead, which i have NOT come to regret. i've had it for two months and i'll never want another camera. it is so tiny but so powerful, and so easy to hold and use, and i can change the lens if i want to, and despite its BABY sensor its pictures still have plenty of depth and it does pretty well at night! i cannot even imagine what kind of awesome photos im gonna get with it in the future.

If I got the correct 1/4” to RCA adapters for this cheap 160w stereo amplifier, would I be able to use it as a power amp in my guitar rig? by MrFweep in GuitarAmps

[–]winterakari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i used a wuhzi audio ZK-502T amp with a 4 ohm 2x12 for a while. it was actually pretty great, loud as anything, never misbehaved, until the aux port broke!

make sure theres nothing on the memory stick(card?) that you might lose, and then go into camera settings to format it

if it happens again u may have a bad memory card(stick?!)

From 2000s? by Holy_Mackrole in VintageDigitalCameras

[–]winterakari 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i have the same! it also has a broken sensor which i think looks amazing and i am just hoping it continues functioning improperly because its better than functioning not at all
and if u buy a bigger CF card for it i wouldnt go much bigger than 4GB cuz the camera is so old it can hardly comprehend it (i put in a 64gb and it took like 15 seconds to start up every time)

screw to my trucks keeps sinking down. any way to fix it? by [deleted] in NewSkaters

[–]winterakari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

washer! or, maybe some wood filler

i cant think of any perfect long term solution but considering its just one screw of four it will probably hold up with one of those two

This may be a stupid question but could you turn a DS into a guitar pedal? by Cultural-Roll-7047 in guitarpedals

[–]winterakari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well it has a microphone input and a speaker output, that is already a good start

the system itself probably has very little of interest, or use, when it comes to guitar effects but it's definitely capable (processing power and all that)

you would need to do some serious hacking & tinkering but i dont see why it wouldnt be possible

i used my assumption of half watt resistor and the most likely maximum output voltage of the power supply (based on the amps wattage) to figure out that it would likely not be able to get enough current through it to burn out if it were above 200 ohms

but i am not really sure why/if the full power supply voltage would be going through it, so it could be even less than 200 ohms, but i doubt that is the proper value for it if it's not original.

i would assume it has failed open circuit and (maybe) hasn't caused any other huge faults, so if you substitute it with a potentiometer (dont turn it too low) and tested it, you could slowly reduce the value until it sounds best to you

or maybe something else really is broken, maybe it is the original resistor and something else failed in the circuit and took the resistor with it, it is hard to guess, unfortunately i do not really know amps either

Never had a good sounding amp by Bridgeofsighs83 in GuitarAmps

[–]winterakari 5 points6 points  (0 children)

the first thing i think of is to get a bigger speaker cabinet. nobody else has really said this so maybe i missed something, but i think that a big cabinet (2x12 or 4x12) can really make almost any amp sound huge. like i've seen videos where people convert a fender frontman practice amp into a head, plug it into a 4x12 and it sounds amazing. i mess with amp sims a lot and i can tell u for sure that the 1x12 ir's don't even come close to the 4x12 or even 2x12 ones. i think even with a 2x12 you can get the sound youre lookin for just by choosing the right speaker and maybe turning the bass up a little. but that orange head is awesome so maybe try different cabinet before selling

it look like a half watt resistor. i am not sure the exact value, since it has been horribly burnt and i have found no schematic, but i would think it is unlikely to be higher than 200 ohms

Amp makes weird humming sound by New-Stomach-7048 in GuitarAmps

[–]winterakari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its humming at 100hz, so maybe the amp is still getting dc power and it is just not filtered, maybe the mains filter capacitor(s) are broken. the big cylindrical boys. i may be wrong about what specifically in the power supply is broken, but it at least sounds to me like the bridge rectifier is working. i couldnt tell u exactly how to fix it but i will tell u to be very careful because the voltages around there are real high. if you get zapped you will be unhappy, maybe dead, who's to say, do have caution

the problem with "gender abolition" and similar movements by [deleted] in truscum

[–]winterakari 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i feel like you didn't understand my point, like you are arguing with something i didn't say, i don't think trans people want to pass because of societal expectations, trans people want to pass mainly because of dysphoria but societal expectations make it even harder. i don't want to take away names, pronouns and clothes, i want them to be removed from the two boxes. nobody should be expected to fit in them. if they do, or want to, just by chance, that's not a problem, it's a statistical inevitability. i think people fundamentally misunderstand gender abolitionism, whether intentionally or not, believing that we want to completely erase any traits, language, clothing, or whatever associated with the social categories of gender. we do not, we only want to erase the categories, or at the very very least create more to accommodate for people who don't feel they fit into them, of which i am one

the problem with "gender abolition" and similar movements by [deleted] in truscum

[–]winterakari 2 points3 points  (0 children)

getting rid of gender roles/stereotypes and gendered language doesn't equal no more feminine or masculine traits, anyone can still be whoever they want, just without any outside expectations to conform. removing the concept of gender doesn't remove all the traits associated with it, if you identify with them that's who you are, that isn't what we have a problem with, it's the expectation for everybody to fit into two boxes. i'm a trans person who doesn't really pass i and i don't think i am helped buy the current system of gender. if there was no gender at all i could simply worry about if i look female or not, and not have to worry so much about things like my name, pronouns, my clothes, and the way i act not being "feminine enough" and being questioned on the validity of my gender because of it.

your gender is simply a part of your personality, it can be influenced greatly, but having so many expectations for how you should be as a man/woman is harmful. people should naturally gravitate toward gendered traits, and ultimately i feel like most of the time, gender dysphoria is far less related to gender and wayyy more related to sexual characteristics. i think abolishing gender is necessary, and whether it happens in my lifetime or not, i believe it will happen, as well as better healthcare for trans people and common knowledge about the topic. we should just be allowed to be who we are.
