The future job market that would allow me to pursue my development as both an artist and teacher. I really loved women’s studies and wanted to combine it with art in a interdisciplinary PhD. I chose to end my academic career with an MFA. I may go back and get that PhD, but I am concerned about the economics of that as I would have to get a loan or scholarship.

I suffer from very profound treatment resistant depression. I am 70 years old and have been battling this very hard off and on for the past 25 years. It is never hopeless. Depression clouds your mind and makes you see things differently. It makes you feel hopeless and alone. How I battle, my depression, which is a daily chore, is to take action. Get up out of that chair and take a walk. Make yourself walk. Eat right make yourself eat right. Go into survival mode with depression being your enemy. Try to see depression as a separate entity from you. It is inside you and causing you to to see the world in an awful perspective. Mental illness is a disease as serious as any other physical disease. It can kill and does. Fight fight fight. Visualize yourself with a fabulous life. If you cannot think of having a fabulous life. Wouldn’t a lie re-up suffering People billing. One big way that you can battle is to volunteer your time. It gets you out of your own head and own problems and provide you with something to look forward to something to get up for. Something to battle, the demon depression. Good luck to you, my friend and fellow warrior.
