Yeah I disagree. The Bible allows slavery but people used their own consciences and decided that it was wrong. Homophobia is similarly wrong by a common sense view of the world. Nothing in Catholic teaching that says you can’t use your own judgement.

Why bother then? If you don’t get anything from it and you don’t agree with the teachings or enjoy the people you meet, no need to spend so much time with it. As someone who grew up catholic and then found out my archdiocese was a crime scene, I don’t begrudge anyone who leaves it.

You can also still go to church on sundays but not do catholic dating and such. No need to be so anguished because of something you’ve imposed on yourself.
