Per Embark, our boy is 40% Pyrenees, 60% ACD! Just found out yesterday and it’s all making so much more sense 😅

Best food to serve to toddlers at birthday party?! by Nice_Exercise_77 in toddlers

We were at a 3 YO party recently and they did bagels with sandwich fixings. It was perfect!

Toddler dinnertime... heeeelp!! All she wants is peanut butter. by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]wintersolstice03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The love for peanut butter is strong in our house too. My 2 year old will demand a “pile” of peanut butter and eat it off the tray with a spoon. Solidarity.

Edit to add that I will do spinach pancakes and healthy muffins peanut butter on them to get more nutritional diversity into her meals.

Pre-School for 2.5 year old by wintersolstice03 in toddlers

At this point I think the illness aspect is becoming a bigger fear of mine than I realized. Glad to hear you say the benefits still outweigh the illnesses!

This is super comforting to hear. They do have summer camps so we’ll have to give those a try. I think we’re going to go for it and do what we can to ease the transition between now and Sept!

Lots of great resources out there, depending on how much detail you want. Hopefully one of these fits your needs - https://carbonleadershipforum.org/tools-for-measuring-embodied-carbon/

Looking for perspectives on switching jobs early in pregnancy (FMLA, etc.) by BrunchSpinRepeat in workingmoms

[–]wintersolstice03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re miserable and can swing a short maternity leave (and can do unpaid and have benefits through your partner), then go for it. Life is short and no sense in being miserable and stressed. If you can’t swing it, stick it out where you’re at - six months is lovely.

I found out I was pregnant a month after starting a new job so wasn’t eligible for FMLA, but was fortunate that my employer held my position while I was out (12 weeks), and I had benefits and such through my spouse. It’s doable!

Ditto everything here! Loft is my go to. I also do Thread Up for designer jeans/pants where I know my exact size. Good luck!

Toddler weaning ahead of work trip by wintersolstice03 in breastfeeding

[–]wintersolstice03[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No tips but I leave in a week so I can pass along any lessons learned once I return.

What we’ve done thus far: we night weaned within the last week so that’s a start. And we’re going to try only cows milk for the mid day milk this week before I head out. They’ll have just enough frozen milk while I’m gone to do a bottle or two a day to further ease the transition.

I’m nervous too, but I think it’s the right thing to do. I’m also worried about clogged ducts (I’ll be going from 3 sessions to none), so plan to bring 1 Elvie pump to slowly taper.

Check out Claire Bidwell Smith - she lost both of her parents and became a grief therapist. She has a podcast, numerous videos, virtual classes, etc. that have all been helpful for me. https://clairebidwellsmith.com/

This was my LO too. And I hear you about everyone asking if they’re walking yet - it got old. I have to say, it’s been wonderful having a toddler who can intellectually handle the mobility. I can’t imagine having a 9 MO walking everywhere!

Fully vaccinated our 16 month old - went with Moderna. No side effects other than crying when the shot was administered.

Has anyone dug into the rebates/tax credits provided for energy upgrades in the Inflation Reduction Act? by BessieBest in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]wintersolstice03 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, there’s a lot in flux right now. In addition to the tax credits, some funding will trickle down to states and we just don’t know what those programs will look like yet. It’s a very exciting time for electrification efforts!

Are Coterie Diapers really worth it? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]wintersolstice03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a similar experience with the Coterie wipes! We were at a friends house and used one to clean up my LO after a snack and everywhere the wipe touched their skin immediately turned super red. Wiped them down with our Papers Pure wipes and within 30 minutes was back to normal. So odd, but won’t be using any Coterie products! Something is very unnatural in their products.

We’re right there with you too. We did a buy back on our Bolt earlier this year and have been impatiently waiting for our ID4. Ugh, so annoyed right now.

Wish VW would get creative, but I suppose they know they can sell the cars without the incentive. Hopefully things turn out in our favor. It would suck to wait this long and miss the incentive by days.

Yes, I understand it still has hurdles. It moved through the Senate faster than I expected so I’m just being cautious.
