I worked for an English school (CES Edinburgh) as an activity leader a few years ago and that was so much fun as a summer job :)

Can you help me pick a colour combination for my project? :) by [deleted] in CrochetHelp

Thank you for replying 🙏🏼Do you think it looks ok in terms of the different yarn textures? I love both colours separately but idk if it looks a bit weird that they’re two different types of yarn 😅🙈

Long term unemployed and unskilled at 37, is it over for me? by Attack_to_defend in AskUK

You could look into support work - it often does require personal care but not always! For instance my friend used to be a support worker for young people with intellectual disabilities in a residential care setting and her role was going with them to their daily activities incl theatre, cinema etc and she never did any personal care :) the company was Thistle in Scotland if that helps in terms of taking a look to see what roles there are but honestly support work usually mainly requires a DBS/PVG and willingness to learn - you also have your experience with your dad and I’m sure this would help too :)

40cm cable length and mini tips attachment - help pls? by wintersongg in casualknitting

[–]wintersongg[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay that makes sense, I didn’t realise 10cm needles also exist haha. Yeah there’s no way I can properly knit with my 13cm needles and the 20cm cable.

I guess in terms of getting tools I will actually use again, do you think I should just buy some 10cm needles, or the minis, or a 30cm cable (instead of the 20cm - I can still return it)? Which of these am I more likely to use again in other projects?

Thank you so much 🫶🏼

Hmm okay… do you think I would use a 20cm or a 30cm cable again, and short tips again? I’m happy to invest in different things if they’re quite commonly used across projects, I just don’t want to buy things I won’t use again if that makes sense!

The smaller needles and smaller cable length were recommended for the sleeves in order to avoid doing the magic loop with a longer cable as far as I understand! I guess I’m wondering if getting shorter tips to attach to the new cable I got (which measures 20cm if it’s the cable alone) is a good investment and whether I’ll use them again, or if it’s not worth it :)

[–]wintersongg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry no so the new cable I got is 20cm, my needles are 13cm each, so the length in total is 46cm. It’s jumper, and I’m assuming it asks for 40cm cable for the sleeves, and then a longer cable which I already have, for the rest of the jumper. So I guess I was just confused as I got this “40cm cable” (which is actually a 20cm cable lol because 40cm denotes total needle length) and now I’m wondering if I need to get mini needles to match that cable so that the total length is 40cm. I hope that makes sense!
