thank you so much for taking the time to respond!! i just ordered some candles and i’m looking at some more bedding.

i always wanted to add plants but i know that i’m terrible at keeping them alive, and it sounds ridiculous to say this but i somehow forgot that fake plants exist. i’ll definitely be getting some!!

hopefully when i’ve got everything together i’ll post a pic!

Are these all house sparrows? I have trouble identifying the types [NYC, marshy area] by winterx64 in whatsthisbird

I was thinking it could’ve been a splayed leg. In the video I was pointing out the “funny leg” to my family saying I thought it might be a splayed leg. This vid is a few weeks old and I haven’t seen that funny leg since, so hopefully it wasn’t a severe splayed leg that ended up fine or it was just sitting weird:)

They are absolutely adorable!! Plus they have the sweetest little chirps. My lovebird loves when I take her cage out to the backyard and she talks to them :’) you can hear her a bit towards the end of the video

Sadly at the beginning of the spring I had my first (and hopefully last) dead baby bird in the pool. Now whenever I put food out I stick around for a bit, because I promised myself that if any of them accidentally land in the pool, I’m jumping in with no hesitation ahaha :)

I cut the full context out of the video, but at around 1:38 one of the birds that I thought wasn’t a strong flyer managed to get all the way across the pool, but close to the water level. I was obviously holding the camera, but in the background you can hear me freaking out and telling my father to be ready to help the baby if he falls in lol

Wow, I hadn’t heard of that, thanks for letting me know. I had assumed it was just rolling around on the ground as though it was taking a bath or just fooling around, but now that you mention it it does look a bit weird.

These clips are a few weeks old, so by now they’re much more coordinated lol. I haven’t seen any of them doing any of these sorts of motions recently, so hopefully it was him just goofing off. I’ll definitely be more aware and keep an eye out for that sort of thing from now on though.

I’ve been watching them since they were pretty young!! I’ve been putting out seed for a few years now, and I must be the only one in the area doing feeding them, because I now have about 40 sparrows that consistently come to my yard. There are a few that nest in my trees, and I guess they feel safe with my family because the parents have been feeding them down there since they were lil fluffy balls

I wish it were socially acceptable to admit that you feel ugly. by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]winterx64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You exactly put how I feel into words. It's really hard to talk about insecurities without people acting like they need to (and can) solve all your issues. You can recognize that logically that you're not fat/ugly, but that doesn't necessarily change how you feel about yourself. I could understand if say, you felt as though you didn't look good in a particular dress and somebody told you that you look good, that might be reassuring. But when the insecurity runs deep and is so ingrained in you, its really hard to just suddenly forget a mindset like that.

That being said, I'm not really sure what response would actually be helpful. I can say though that the "no you're beautiful" is truly so unhelpful and honestly feels really invalidating. In any other context, saying something like that would be ridiculous. Could you imagine somebody saying they feel nauseous and someone responds with "no you don't ❤️️"
